30.0 BASEMENT CONFERENCE ROOM - MONDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 1977 Special meeting Resolution re: Charter Change for Housing Authority Executive Session The Council met in special session on this date with the following members present: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Brunton, Mr. Fife, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Absent: None. A motion by Mr. Bar~bour, sedonded by M~. ~:Fife, Cole Hendrix was appointed Acting Clerk, by unanimous vote. A motion by Mr. Fife, seconded by Mr. Brunton that unanimous consent be given to the consideration of any matters which come before this meeting was unanimously adopted by the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbnur., Mr. Brunton, Mr. Fife, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: None. On motion by Mr. Fife, seconded by Mr. Brunton the following resolution was unanimously adopted. ._ WHEREAS, there has been proposed an amendment to the Charter of the City of Charlottesville which would permit the City Council to designate itself as the commissioners of the Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority; and WHEREAS, pursuant to notice duly published in The Daily Progress as required by law, a public hearing has been held on such proposed charter amendment on October 17, 1977; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia that such proposal to amend Chapter 384 of the Acts of Assembly of 1946, which chapter provided a charter for the City of CharlottesVille, by adding a section numbered 50.4 thereto, is hereby endorsed and approved in the form in which presented; and be it further 'RESOLVED, that the Clerk of the Council be directed to send a certified copy of this resolution, and of the proposed charter amendment to Delegate Thomas J. Michie, with the request of the Council that he introduce and support such legislation in the 1978 Session of the General Assembly of Virginia. A motion by Mr. Brunton, seconded by Mr. Gatewood that Council meet i~ executive session to discuss a matter exempted by Section 2.1-344(a)(2) and Section 2.1-344(a)(6) of the Virginia Freedom of Information Act was adopted by the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Brunton, Mr. Fife, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: None. On motion thelmeeting adjourned. On motion by Mr. Fife, seconded by Mr. Brunton, Myra Bruce was appointed Acting Clerk of Council., by unanimous vote.
