<br />Rate Increase
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the'City of Charlottesville desires to ohtain
<br />two portions of a lot identified as Parcel 50 on City Real Property
<br />Tax Map 26 and located at the corner of Raymond Road and Baylor
<br />Lane in order to'widen thOse streets; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the deSired portion in the northeast corner of
<br />said lot is 113.39 square feet and the desired portion in the
<br />northwest corner of said lot of 352.53 square feet, making a
<br />total of 465.92 square feet; and
<br />
<br /> WHERAS, the property is owned by Aubrey Coker or his
<br />heirs, if any; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the whereabouts of Auhrey Coker and his heirs,
<br />if any, are unknown and there is no way of obtaining fee simple
<br />title to the desired portions of said lot except by condemnation
<br />proceedings; now, therefore, be it
<br />
<br /> RESOLVED by the CoUncil of the City of Charlottesville
<br />that the City Attorney be and he is hereby directed to institute
<br />condemnation proceedings for the acquisition of the said portions
<br />of the lot owned' by Aubrey Coker or his heirs, if any, whose
<br />whereabouts are Unknown and to file the necessary documents with
<br />the Circuit Court of the City of Charlottesville as provided in
<br />§33.1-89 et seq., §15..1-~899 of the Code of Virginia (1950), as
<br />amended, and ~40 and 50.1 of the Charter of the City of
<br />Charlottesville.

<br />On motion ~by Mr. Barbour, seconded by Mr. Brunton the following

<br />resolution was unanimously adopted.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the Columbia Gas Transmission Corporation on
<br />November 30, 1977, filed an application with the Federal Energy
<br />Regulatory Commission for an annual increase of $67.1 million
<br />in the rates charged to its jurisdictional customers; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, this CoUncil has determined it to be ink,the
<br />best interests of the City and the customers of the City's
<br />natural gas system to intervene in such rate pzoceedings; now,
<br />therefore, be it~
<br />
<br /> RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Charlottesville,
<br />that the City Attorney is hereby authorized to initiate the City's
<br />intervention in the Pending rate application of Columbia Gas
<br />Transmission Corporation, in Federal Ener.gy Regulatory Commission
<br />Docket No'. RP-78-, and acting through special consel retained
<br />for such purposes to take such actions in such proceedings as he
<br />deems advisable to protect the interests of the City therein.
