346 <br /> <br />Executive Session <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council has determined that it is <br />necessary for the future transportation needs of the City <br />to initiate certain street~and highways-improvements; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Virginia Department of Highways and <br />Tranaportation requires a formal request for each project <br />and certain commitments on the part of the City Council, <br />before the Department can initiate work on such highway projects <br />to be funded from the City's annual allocations of urban <br />highway improvement funds; now, therefore, be it <br /> RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville: <br /> 1. That the Virginia Department of Highways and <br /> Transportation be and is hereby requested to establish <br /> a project within the corporate limits of the. City <br /> of Charlottesville for improvements to: <br /> Mclntire Road between Cherry Avenue and Melborne Road. <br /> 2. That the City hereby agrees to pay its share of <br /> the cost of engineering, acquisition~of right-of-way, <br /> and construction of Such project under the cost <br /> formula of 90% from the Department and 10% from <br /> the City. <br /> <br /> 3, That City further agrees that if such project is <br /> established as herein requested, and thereafter the <br /> City elects not to continue with such project to <br /> completion, the City will repay the Department for <br /> 100% of the costs incurred by the Department up to <br /> the time of such action by the City terminating <br /> such project. <br /> A motion by Mr. Brunton, seconded by Mr. Fife that Council <br /> meet in executive session to discuss a matter exempted by <br /> Section 2.1-344(a)(1), Section 2.1-344(2), and Section <br /> 2.1-344(a)(6) of the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, was <br /> adopted by the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, <br /> Mr. Brunton, Mr. Fife, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien.
