Ordinance re: <br />Annual Tax Levy <br />Ordinance <br /> <br />A. There is hereby appropriated from the Bicentennial <br />Information Center Fund, for the operation of the Western <br />Virginia Bicentennial Information Center during such fiscal <br />year, the sum of $98,535, or the amount of revenue actually <br />received by s~ch fund, whichever shall be the lesser amount. <br /> <br />B. There is hereby appropriated from the RSVP Fund for the <br />operation of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program during <br />such fiscal year, the sum of $36,137, or the amount of <br />revenue actually received by such fund, whichever shall <br />be the lesser amount. <br /> <br />C. There is hereby appropriated from the Emergency Services <br />Fund, for the operation of the Emergency Services Program <br />during such fiscal year, the sum of $16,000, or the amount <br />of revenue actually received by such fund, whichever shall <br />be~the lesser amount. <br /> <br />D. There is.hereby appropriated from the Community Attention <br />Fund, for the operation of the Community Attention Homes <br />and related programs during such fiscal year, the sum of <br />$432,007 or the amount of revenue actually received by such <br />fund whichever shall be the lesser amount. <br /> <br />E. There is hereby appropriated from the Landfill Fund, for <br />the operation of the sanitary landfill during such fiscal <br />year the sum of $310,189, or the amount of revenue actually <br />received by such fund, whicheVer shall be the lesser amount. <br /> <br />F. There is hereby appropriated from the Social Services <br />Fund, for the operation of the Department of Social <br />Services during such fiscal year, the sum of $2,081,414, <br />or the amount of revenue actually received by such fund, <br />whichever shall be the lesser amount. <br /> <br />G. There is hereby appropriated from the Data Processing <br />Fund, fOr the operation of the Department of Data Processing <br />during such fiscal year, the sum of $145,129, or the amount <br />of revenue actually credited to such fund from other city <br />departments, whichever shall be the lesser amount. <br /> <br /> Each such special fund appropriation shall be effective <br />July 1, 1978. <br /> <br />The Mayor stated that her vote on adoption of the budget <br /> <br />was predicated on the understanding that a different merit <br /> <br />system will be presented for next.year. <br /> <br />Mr. Gatewood suggested that next year any increases in <br /> <br />salary in excess of the merit and across the board increases be <br /> <br />shown separately ~n~the budget. <br /> <br />An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO ESTABLISH THE ANNUAL <br /> <br />TAX LEVY ON VARIOUS CLASSES OF PROPERTY FOR THE PAYMENT OF <br /> <br />INTEREST AND RETIREMENT OF THE CITY DEBT, FOR THE SUPPORT OF <br /> <br />THE CITY GOVERNMENT AND CITY SCHOOLS, AND FOR OTHER PUBLIC <br /> <br />PURPOSES," which was offered at the meeting of the Council on <br /> <br />April 10, 1978, was adopted by the following recorded vote. <br /> <br />Ayes: Mr. Barbour, Mr. Brunton~ Mr. Fife, Mr. Gatewood and <br /> <br />Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: None. <br /> <br />A motion by Mr. ~Barbour that a resolution be sent to the <br /> <br />Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General requesting them to go <br /> <br />before the State Corporation Commission to oppose the VEPCO <br /> <br />rate increase request, died for lack of a second. <br /> <br />On motion the meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />362 <br /> <br />~resident <br /> <br /> <br />
