382 <br /> <br />Report re: Easters <br />at the University <br /> <br />Resolution re: <br />Bingo Permit <br /> <br />Report re: City <br />Manager on landscaping <br />5th Street <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council consideres the completion <br />of the .AWT plant to be of paramont importance to the <br />protection of the physical environment and to the economic <br />well-being of Charlottesville and Albemarle County;. now, <br />therefore, be it <br /> RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, <br />that the State Water Control Board be urged to continue <br />to give the highest priority to full funding of the <br />Rivanha Water and Sewer Authori~y's advanced wastewater <br />treatment plant; that the Mayor be authorized to convey <br />the Council's support of such project to the Board at <br />its meeting on May 17; and that the Clerk of the Council <br />be directe to send a certified copy of this Resolution to <br />the Board. <br /> The Mayor announced that the Student planning Committee <br /> for Easters has made the following recommendations: 1. <br /> That there be no large party on week-ends; 2. That the <br /> University generally de-esclate and de-emphasize the <br /> week-end; and 3. That next year's committee look into <br /> the possibility of a mid-week party. On motion by Mr. <br /> Brunton, seconded by Mr. Fife the Council voted to support <br /> the recommendations of the Student Committee. <br /> On motion by Mr.Fife , seconded by/ Mr.~Barbour the <br /> following resolution was unanimously adopteg. <br /> WHEREAS, the Laura Rebekah Lodge No. 26 has duly <br /> applied for a permit to co~duct bingo games in compliance <br /> with ~17-19 of the Code of the City of Charlottesville, <br /> 1976, as amended; and <br /> WHEREAS, it has been determined that the Laura <br /> Rebekah Lodge No. 26 meets the qualifications as outlined <br /> in 517-19; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of <br /> the City of Charlottesville that a permit be granted to <br /> the Laura Rebekah Lodge No. 26 to conduct bingo games in <br /> accordance with all the provisions of §17-19 of the COde <br /> of the City of Charlottesville for a period of one year <br /> from the date of this resolution; and <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the <br /> Council be directed to send a copy of this resolution to <br /> the Recording Secretary of the Laura Rebekah Lodge No. 26. <br /> The City Manager advised the Council that an es~timate <br /> <br /> of the cost of architectural plans for landscaping 5th <br /> Street would be approximately $2,000 and the cost of the <br /> landscaping would be between $20,000 and $30,000. He <br /> stated there was some questions as to whether students <br /> who are unlicensed could be employed to do this project, <br /> but he would certainly look into the matter. A motion by <br /> Mr. Fife, seconded by Mr. Barbour that we try the students <br /> first to s~e if it can be done, and if not then employ <br /> a landscaping architect to do the work, was unanimously <br /> <br />Executive Session <br /> <br />adopted. <br /> A motion by Mr. Brunton, seconded by Mr. Gatewood <br />that Council meet in executive session to discuss matters <br />exempted by Section 2.1-344(a)(1) and Section 2.1-344(a)(2) <br />of the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, was adopted <br />by the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. Barbour, Mr. <br />Brunton, Mr. Fife, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br /> <br />
