Resolution re: Graditude <br />from the Council to the <br />members of the reception <br />committee for the Italian <br />Visit <br /> <br />Executive session <br /> <br />455 <br /> <br />was adopted by the following recorded vote. Ayes: Mr. <br /> <br />Albro, Mr. Brunton, Mr. Buck, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. <br /> <br />O'Brien. Noes: None. <br /> <br />On motion by Mr. Buck, seconded by Mr. Gatewood the <br /> <br />following resolution was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the visit to Charlottesville and <br />Albemarle County of a delegation from our twin communities <br />of Poggio a Caiano and Prato in the Republic of Italy, <br />which took place on October 31st through November 3rd <br />was an enormous success, and did much to further the <br />warm international friendship which has developed from the <br />relationship; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the success of .that visit is due in <br />large measure to the ~fforts of the reception committee <br />chaired by.Mr. Michael P. Gleason, and comprised of Mayor <br />Laurence Brunton, Dr. Carlo Colombini, Mr. Francis <br />Fife, ,Mr..Gerald Fisher, Mr. Omer A. Gianniny, Jr., Mr. <br />John F. Grant, Mr. F. Anthony Iachetta, Ms. Donna P. <br />Massey, Ms. Elizabeth McLemore, Ms. S. Dabney Miller, <br />Mr. Douglas G. Moore, Ms. Nancy K. O'Brien, Mr. Carlo <br />Pellicia and Mrs. Kenneth Redden; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, many other individuals and organizations <br />in the Charlottesville-Albemarle community provided <br />invaluable assistance in giving the Italian visitors a <br />wa~mwelcome and a momorable experience; now, therefore, <br />befit <br /> <br /> RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville that we express our deep appreciation to <br />the aforesaid members of the reception committee, and to <br />every other person and group who contributed to the <br />success of the Italian visit; and be it further <br /> <br /> RESOLVED that the Clerk of the Council be <br />directed to send a certified copy of this resolution to <br />each member of the r. eception committee. <br /> <br />On motion by Mr. Buck, seconded by Mr. Gatewood that <br /> <br />Council meet in executive session to discuss matters <br /> <br />exempted by Section 2.1-344(a)(1), Section 2.1-344(a)(2) <br /> <br />and Section '2.1-344(a)(4) of the Virginia Freedom of <br /> <br />Information Act, was adopted by the following recorded <br /> <br />vote. Ayes: Mr. Albro, Mr. Brunton, Mr. Buck, Mr. <br /> <br />Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brien. Noes: None. <br /> <br />On motion the meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />Clerk <br /> <br />~ ~ President <br /> <br />Regular meeting <br /> <br />Approval of minutes <br /> <br />Presentation re: State <br />HighwaY Department re: <br />Park Street Bridge at <br />Melbourne Road <br /> <br />CO~UNCIL CHAMBER - MONDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 1978 <br /> <br /> The Council met in regular session on this date with <br />the following members present: Mr. Albro, Mr. Brunton, <br />Mr. Buck, Mr. Gatewood and Mrs. O'Brian. Absent: None. <br /> <br /> The minutes of the meetings of October 30, 1978 and <br />November 6, 1978 were approved as presented. <br /> <br /> Mr. Dan Roosevelt, Resident Engineer with the Virginia <br />Department of Highways and Transportation, addressed the <br />Council and stated that he wanted to make Council aware that <br />the Highway Department has a project planned to replace <br />the bridge at the end of Park Street and also to advise the <br />Council of the options available and to ascertain which <br />option they would prefer. He stated this bridge carried <br />7,000 cars per day and the Department does not think it <br /> <br /> <br />
