HIGHWAY SAFETY <br />COMMISSION <br /> <br />DOWNTOWN ACTION <br />COMMITTEE <br /> <br />WELFARE REPORT <br /> <br />OF THIS COMMUNITY AND THE COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA WILL BE SERVED BY THE <br /> <br />PASSAGE OF THE PROPOSED BOND ISSUE~ <br /> <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CiTY OF <br />CHARLOTTESVILLE HEREBY ENDORSES AND SUPPORTS THE BOND iSSUE PROPOSED BY <br />GOVERNOR GODWIN AND URGES EVERY CITIZEN TO EXPRESS SIMILAR APPROVAL BY <br />VOTING iN FAVOR OF IT IN THE COMING ELECTION ON NOVEMBER 5TH. <br /> <br /> ON MOTION BY MR. NOES: NONE. <br /> <br /> A REQUEST FOR REZONING ON NASSAU STREET WAS REFERRED TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION <br /> <br />FOR RECOMMENDATION. <br /> <br /> THE COMMITTEE APPOINTED TO INVESTIGATE THE REQUEST OF THE CITY SERGEANT RECOMMENDED: <br />THAT EACH MAN WHO IS ELIGIBLE BE GIVEN ~100.00 UNIFORM ALLOWANCE ON JANUARY 1~ 1969 <br />AND ~50. O0 EACH SIX MONTHS~ AND NEW EMPLOYEES TO BE GIVEN ~]00.00 INITIALLY ON THE <br />RECOMMENDATION OF THE CITY SERGEANT. THE COMMITTEE ALSO RECOMMENDED THAT THE CITY <br />PURCHASE ONE AUTOMOBILE TO BE TITLED iN THE NAME OF THE CITY AND EQUIPPED WITH TWO- <br /> <br />WAY POLICE TYPE RADIO. ON MOTION BY MR.
