WRIGHT, THE CITY ATTORNEY WAS <br />AUTHORIZED TO INCLUDE THE LICENSE TAX ORDINANCE IN ARTICLE IV OF CHAPTER 1t.1 OF THE <br />C(TY CODE. <br /> <br /> A COMMUNICATION WAS PRESENTED FROM THE DOGWOOD FESTIVAL REQUESTING PERMISSION TO <br />HANG STREET BANNERS AND THE USE OF MCINTIRE PARK FOR THE AMUSEMENT RIDES FROM APRIL 18TH <br />THROUGH THE 26TH, AND ALSO~ EXEMPTION FROM THE LICENSE TAX ORDINANCE. ON MOTION BY <br />MR. RINEHART, SECONDED BY MR. ABSENT: NONE. <br /> <br /> THE CLERK REPORTED THAT A SYNOPSIS OF THE CITY AND SCHOOL BUDGETS FOR THE FISCAL <br />YEAR COMMENCING JULY 1, 1969 HAD BEEN PUBLISHED AND NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING TO BE HELD <br />ON THIS DATE HAD BEEN GIVEN AS REQUIRED BY SECTION 19 OF THE CITY CHARTER. ~HE MAYOR <br />ANNOUNCED THAT THE SCHOOL ~UDGET WOULD BE CONSIDERED FIRST. A LARGE NUMBER OF PEOPLE <br />ADDRESSED THE COUNCIL BOTH IN SUPPORT AND IN OPPOSITION TO THE PROPOSED BUDGET. A <br />MOTION BY MR. RINEHART) SECONDED BY ~R. DAVIS THAT THE PROPOSED SCHOOL BUDGET BE <br />REDUCED ~195~300.00~ AND THE BUDGET BE APPROVED IN THE AMOUNT OF ~4~795~864.00 FOR THE <br />FISCAL YEAR 1969:70~ AND THE SCHOOL BOARD BE REQUESTED TO RE-SUBMIT ITS BUDGET SHOWING <br />THE REDUCED CATEGORIES~ ~AS ADOPTED BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: AYES: MR.
