FIFE~ HR. VAN YAHRES AND HR. WRIGHT. ABSENT: NONE. <br /> DR. H. COWEN ELLIS, PASTOR OF FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, GAVE THE INVOCATION. <br /> <br /> THE MINUTES OF THE MEETINGS OF OCTOBER 4, 1971 AND OCTOBER 12~ 1971 WERE APPROVED <br /> <br />AS CORRECTED. <br /> <br /> A PETITION WAS PRESENTED FROM THE RESIDENTS OF THE BARRACKS ROAD AREA REQUESTING THAT <br />BARRACKS ROAD-PRESTON AVENUE BE RESTRICTED TO ONLY TRUCKS PROVIDING SERVICES DIRECTLY TO THE <br />AREA. THE CITY HANAGER ADVISED THE COUNCIL THAT THIS MATTER HAS BEEN REFERRED TO THE NEW <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER FOR RECOHHENDATION. HE STATED THAT THERE IS PRESENTLY NO ORDINANCE AGAINST <br />TRUCKS USING ANY STREETS IN THE CITY, AND IT WOULD BE DIFFICULT TO ENFORCE SUCH AN ORDINANCE. <br /> <br /> THE FOLLOWING REPORT WAS PRESENTED, AND ON MOTION BY HR. DAVIS~ SECONDED BY HR. HIGH STREET AND TAYLOR STREET; THE DEDICATED BUT <br />UNACCEPTED STREET ADJACENT TO VALLEY ROAD NEAR ITS INTERSECTION WITH VENABLE LANE; AND <br />THE ALLEY ON THE WEST SIDE OF 4TH STREET) N. W.~ BETWEEN WEST HAIN AND COMMERCE STREETS <br />BE CLOSED. THE CITY ATTORNEY REPORTED THAT THE VIEWERS APPOINTED PURSUANT TO THE STATE <br />STATUTE HAD ALSO RECOMHENDED THESE CLOSINGS. <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE CLOSING, VACATING AND DISCONTINUING A CERTAIN <br /> <br />STREET KNOWN AS dACKSON STREET IN THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVlLLE~ VIRGINIA" WAS OFFERED BY <br /> <br />HR. FIFE~ SECONDED BY HR. WRIGHT~ AND CARRIED OVER TO THE NEXT MEETING FOR CONSIDERATION. <br /> AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE CLOSING~ VACATING AND DISCONTINUING A CERTAIN <br /> <br />DEDICATED BUT UNOPENED STREET ADJACENT TO VALLEY ROAD IN THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA" <br /> <br />WAS OFFERED BY HR.
