VAN YAHRES. <br />ABSENT: MR. GILLIAM. <br /> <br /> THE MINUTES OF THE MEETINGS OF JUNE 3, 6 AND 10, ]974 WERE APPROVED AS <br />CORRECTED. <br /> <br />MATTERS BY THE <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br /> MR. A. L. PEASLEE ADDRESSED THE COUNCIL AND STATED THAT The REGIONAL <br />PLANNING COMMISSION AND THE STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT ARE NEGOTIATING FOR <br /> <br />FUNDS FOR STREET AND HIGHWAY PLANNING. HE REQUESTED THAT WHEN THE PLANNING <br />BEGINS THAT THE PUBLIC BE ALLOWED TO GET INVOLVED IN THE EARLY ASPECTS AND <br />HE HOPED THAT THE PLANNING WOULD BE A TOTAL TRANSPORT PLAN AND NOT JUST <br />STREETS AND HIGHWAYS. <br /> <br />APPOINTMENT RE: <br />NOISE ORDINANCE <br />COMMITTEE <br /> <br />ON MOTION BY MR. VAN YAHRES THE FOLLOWING <br />RESOLUTION WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br />EDGEHILL ROAD <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION APPOINTING VIEWERS TO CONSIDER A REQUEST FOR THE VACATION <br />OF A CERTAIN PORTION OF AN ALLEY RUNNING SOUTH FROM EDGEHILL ROAD AND <br />ADJOINING PARCELS I?.4 AND 19.1 ON CITY TAX MAP 45. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, THIS COUNCIL HAS RECEIVED A PETITION REQUESTING VACATION <br />OF A FIFTEEN FOOT ALLEY RUNNING BETWEEN PROPERTY OWNED BY ALLIED REALTY <br />CORPORATION, IRA L. NORTH AND LELIA MAE NORTH~ AND <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, IT APPEARS TO COUNCIL THAT THE NOTICES REQUIRED BY ~15.1-364 <br />OF THE CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950), AS AMENDED, HAVE BEEN DULY POSTED~ <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />CHARLOTTESVILLE THAT MESSRS. J. P. BORDEN, MASON S. RINEHART THE FOREGOING <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED. <br /> <br />REPORT RE; <br />REGIONAL LIBRARY <br />CONTRACT <br /> <br />REPORT RE: <br />SCHOOL Bus <br />REPORT <br /> <br /> ON MOTION BY MR. VAN YAHRES, SECONDED BY MR. BARBOUR THAT THE MAYOR WAS <br /> AUTHORIZED TO EXECUTE A REVISED REGIONAL LIBRARY CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF <br /> <br /> CHARLOTTESVILLE AND THE COUNTIES OF ALBEMARLE, LOUISA, NELSON AND GREENE. <br /> THE CITY MANAGER PRESENTED A SCHOOL BUS REPORT ANALYZING THE POSSIBLE <br /> OPERATION OF A SCHOOL BUS SYSTEM OPERATED BY YELLOW TRANSIT COMPANY OR BY <br /> <br /> THE SCHOOL BOARD. MR. HENDRIX, STATED THAT YELLOW TRANSIT HAS OPERATED <br /> THE SYSTEM IN THE PAST AND REALLY DID NOT HAVE TO AND HE THINKS THAT THE <br /> <br />NEW EQUIPMENT WILL HAVE AN EFFECT ON THE QUALITY OF SERVICE. HE RECOMMENDED <br /> <br />THAT YELLOW TRANSIT COMPANY BE OFFERED THE OPPDRTUNITY TO OPERATE THIS <br />SCHOOL BUS SYSTEM. MR. HARRY TENNEY, VICE-CHAIRMAN OF THE SCHOOL BOARD <br /> <br />ADDRESSED THE COUNCIL IN SUPPORT OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OPERATING THE SYSTEM. <br /> <br />ON MOTION BY MR. VAN YAHRES, SECONDED BY MRS. RINEHART THE SCHOOL BOARD <br /> <br />WAS AUTHORIZED TO PROCEED WITH NEGOIATIONS WITH YELLOW TRANSIT COMPANY FOR~ <br />OPERATION OF THE SYSTEM. <br /> <br />REPORT RE~ <br />REVENUE SHARING <br />DESIGNATIONS <br /> <br /> THE CITY MANAGER PRESENTED A LIST OF POSSIBLE USED OF REVENUE SHARING <br />FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,401.713. MR. HENDRIX ADVISED THE COUNCIL THAT THE <br /> <br />ANTICIPATED AMOUNT OF REVENUE SHARING FUNDS FOR 1974-75 IS $1,097.138. A <br />MOTION BY MR. VAN YAHRES, SECONDED BY MR.
