ART THOMAS ADDRESSED THE COUNCIL AND OBJECTED TO THE WEED ORDINANCE <br /> <br />AS WRITTEN. THE MAYOR ADVISED MR. THOMAS TO CONFER WITH THE CITY <br /> <br />ATTORNEY CONCERNING HIS QUESTIONS AS TD THE LEGALITY DF THE ORDINANCE. <br /> <br /> A COMMUNICATION WAS PRESENTED FROM THE CITY ENGINEER STATING THAT <br /> <br />THE STREETS IN 0RANGEDALE SUBDIVISION HAVE BEEN CONSTRUCTED TO CITY <br /> <br />SPECIFICATIONS AND RECOMMENDED THAT THEY BE ACCEPTED INTO THE CITY <br />STREET SYSTEM FOR MAINTENANCE. ON MOTION BY MR. GILLIAM, SECONDED BY <br />MR. GILLIAM, SECONDED BY MRS. RINEHART IT WAS <br />UNANIMOUSLY RESOLVED THAT THE MAYOR BE AUTHORIZED TO EXECUTE AGREEMENT <br />ESTABLISHING A GOVERNING BOARD TO OWN AND OPERATE THE CHARLOTTESVILLE- <br />ALBEMARLE AI'RPORT. <br /> <br /> ON MOTION BY MR. GILLIAM, SECONDED BY MRS. RINEHART IT WAS <br /> <br />UNANIMOUSLY RESOLVED THAT THE MAYOR BE AUTHORIZED TO EXECUTE AGREEMENT <br />TO ALLOW THE CHARLOTTESVILLE-ALBEMARLE AIRPORT BOARD TO ASSUME EXISTING <br />FEDERAL AID CONTRACTS FROM THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE AND COUNTY OF <br />ALBEMARLE. <br /> <br /> THE CITY MANAGER PRESENTED AN EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS CONTRACT <br />BETWEEN THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE AND THE COUNTY OF ALBEMARLE <br />ESTABLISHING A JOINT EMERGENCY SERVICES PROGRAM AND RECOMMENDED THAT <br /> <br />HE BE AUTHORIZED TO EXECUTE THIS CONTRACT. ON MOTION BY MRS. RINEHART, <br />SECONDED BY MR. GILLIAM THE FOREGOING CONTRACT WAS APPROVED AND THE <br />CITY MANAGER WAS AUTHORIZED TO EXECUTE ON BEHALF OF THE CITY THE <br />JOINT CONTRACT. <br /> <br /> THE CITY MANAGER ADVISED THE COUNCIL THAT HILL BURTON FUNDS ARE NOW <br />AVAILABLE FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF AN ADDITION TO THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT <br />BUILDING. HE STATED THAT THE COST WOULD BE $100,000 TO THE CITY~ <br />$100,000 TO THE COUNTY AND $199,000 FROM THE HILL BURTON FUND. HE <br /> <br />ALSO ADVISED THAT THE COUNCIL IS PREPARED TO MOVE AHEAD WITH THE PROJECT. <br />ON MOTION BY MR. GILLIAM, SECONDED BY MRS. RINEHART THE CITY MANAGER <br /> <br /> <br />
