RIMEL, IV HaS RETIRED FROM HiS POSITION AS SUPERINTENDENT <br />OF PARKS AND CEMETERIES FOR THE PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT AFTER MORE THAN <br />SEVENTEEN YEARS OX DEDICATED AND OLFFSTANDING SERVICE TO THAT DEPARTMENT AND <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, AS SUPERINTENDENT OF PARKS AND CEMETERIES SINCE JUNE 18, 1957, <br />HE HAS BEEN HIGHLY EFFECTIVE IN THE DILIGENT PROMOTION AND THE IMPROVEMENT AND <br />EXPANSION OF The CITY PARKS THROUC~ VARIOUS IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS, INCLUDING THE <br />PLANTING OF THOUSANDS OF DOGWOOD TREES THROUGHOUT THE CITY~ NOW, THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF CHARLOTTESVILLE: <br /> <br /> THAT THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL HEREBY EXTEND TO MR. JOHN M. RIMEL, IV THEIR <br />SINCERE APPRECIATION FOR HIS SEVENTEEN YEARS OF DISTINGUISHED AND DEDICATED PUBLIC <br />SERVICE~ AND <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, THAT THIS RESOLUTION BE SPREAD UPON THE MINUTES <br />OF THE COUNCIL IN TESTIMONY THEREOF, AND THat A COPY THEREOF BE PRESENTED TO MR. <br />RIMEL IN TOKEN OF THE BEST WISHES HEREBY EXTENDED TO HIM BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL <br />FOR THE CONTINUATION OF THE GREAT SATISFACTIONS DERIVED FROM HIS OUTSTANDING <br />DEVOTION TO HIS CHOSEN PROFESSION. <br /> <br /> THE REQUEST FOR REZONING OF THe PROPertY AT 614 PALATINE AVENUE WAS AGAIN <br />CONSIDERED. A MOTION BY MR. VAN YAHRES, SECONDED BY MRS. RINEHART THAT THE REQUEST <br />BE DENIED SINCE REZONING OF THE PROPERTY WOULD BE IN CONFLICT WITH THE 1990 LAND USE <br /> <br /> PLAN AND IS NOT VIABLE NEIGHBORHOOD BUSINESS PROPERTY, WAS ADOPTED BY UNANIMOUS VOTE. <br /> A PROPOSED TRUCK ORDINANCE WAS PRESENTED AND ON MOTION BY MR. GILLIAM, SECONDED <br /> <br />BY MRS. RINEHART ACTION WAS DEFERRED UNTIL A PUBLIC WORK SHOP COULD BE HELD. THE <br />MAYOR SET a WORK SESSION FOR SEPTEMBER 9, 1974 AT 7:30 P.M. <br /> <br /> ON MOTION BY ~R. GILLIAM, SECONDED BY MR. FIFE A PUBLIC HEARING WAS SET FOR <br />SEPTEMBER 16, 1974 AT 7:30 P.M. TO CONSIDER A REQUEST TO CLOSE RUGBY ROAD AT THE <br />250 BYPASS. <br /> <br />ON MOTION BY MR. FIFE, MR. SANDY LAMBERT, WAS REAPPOINTED TO THE PLANNING <br />COMMISSION FOR A FOUR YEAR TERM, EXPIRING AUGUST 31, 1978. <br />ON MOTION BY MR. VAN YAHRES, MR. RICHARD C.
