CONSIDERATION RE: <br />APPROPRIATION - <br />$7,807 - MCGUFFEY <br />SCHOOL BUILDING <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION RE: <br />$3,614 - CITY SHERIFF'S <br />OFFICE <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION RE~ <br />$712.14 - JEFFERSON <br />AREA BOARD FOR AGING <br /> <br />RESOLUTION RE: <br />VIEWERS - LEE STREET <br /> <br />OPTION RE: ELKS <br />LO.DGE <br /> <br />AUTHORIZING REs MAYOR <br />TO SIGN - CH'VILLE <br />COMPREHENSIVE <br />TRANSPORTATION RESTUDY <br /> <br /> COMMITTEE RECOMMENDED THAT THE BUILDING BE. USED TO. ESTABLISH <br /> <br />AN ARTS AND CRAFTS CENTER, WHICH WOULD BE KNOWN AS MCGUFFEY <br /> <br />COMMUNITY ARTS AND CRAFTS CENTER. HE STATED THAT THE CLASS ROOMS <br /> <br />WOULD BE LEASED TO ARTISTS TO BE USED AS WORKSHOPS AND THE RENTAL <br />WOULD OPERATE THE BUILDING. MR. BRACEY STATED THAT THERE WOULD BE A <br />START UP COST OF $11,968 OF WHICH $4,161 IS LABOR, WHICH IS ALREADY <br /> <br />BUDGETED AND REQUESTED AN APPROPRIATION OF $7,807 FOR THE DIFFERENCE. <br /> <br />ON MOTION BY MRS. RINEHART, SECONDED BY MR. FIFE THE FOLLOWING <br /> <br />RESOLUTION WAS OFFERED AND CARRIED OVER TO THE NEXT MEETING FOR <br />CONSIDERATIDN. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE <br />THAT $7,807 BE AND THE SAME IS HEREBY APPROPRIATED FROM THE GENERAL <br />FUND FOR THE START UP COST OF THE MCGUFFEY SCHOOL BUILDING. <br /> <br /> THE RESOLUTION APPROPRIATING $3,614 FOR THE CITY SHERIFF'S <br /> <br />OFFICE, WHICH WAS OFFERED AT THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL ON APRIL 23, <br />1975, WAS ADOPTED BY THE FOLLOWING RECORDED VOTE. AYES: MR. BARBOUR, <br />MR. FIFE, MR. GILLIAM AND MRS. RINEHART. NOES: NONE. ABSENT: MR. <br />VAN YAHRES. <br /> <br /> ON MOTION BY MRS. RINEHART, SECONDED BY MR. RINEHART THE FOLLOWING <br />RESOLUTION WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED. <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION APPOINTING VIEWERS TO CONSIDER A REQUEST FOR THE <br />VACATION OF CERTAIN PORTION OF AN ALLEY LYING SOUTHWEST OF LEE STREET. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, THIS COUNCIL HAS RECEIVED A PETITION REQUESTING <br />VACATION FOR A CERTAIN PORTION OF AN ALLEY APPROXIMATELY 10 FEET IN <br />WIDTH AND RUNNING FOR A DISTANCE OF 416 FEET, MORE OR LESS, IN A <br />SOUTHWESTERLY DIRECTION FROM LEE STREET AND BORDERING ALONG PARCELS 116, <br />117, 118, 119, 120, 124, 125, 128, 129, 130, 131 AND A PORTION OF 115 <br />ON CITY TAX MAP 10~ AND <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, It APPEARS TO COUNCIL THAT THE NOTICES REQUIRED BY <br />§15.1-364 OF THE CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950), AS AMENDED, HAVE BEEN DULY <br />POSTED~ <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF CHARLOTTESVILLE THAT MESSRS. J. P. BORDEN, MASON S. BYRD AND LEE <br />GREAVER BE AND THE SAME ARE HEREBY APPOINTED AS VIEWERS TO VIEW SUCH <br />ALLEY AND REPORT IN WRITING TO COUNCIL WHAT INCONVENIENCE, IF ANY, <br />WOULD RESULT FROM THE VACATION THEREOF. <br /> <br /> ON MOTION BY MRS. RINEHART, SECONDED BY MR. GILLIAM, IT WAS <br />UNANIMOUSLY RESOLVED THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE IN <br />CONJUNCTION WITH THE ALBEMARLE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS AGREES TO <br />EXERCISE THE OPTION TO PURCHASE THE PARCEL OF LAND AND BUILDING FROM <br />THE BENEVOLENT AND PROTECTIVE ORDER OF ELKS, LOCATED AT 411 EAST HIGH <br />STREET, CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA. <br /> <br /> ON MOTION BY MRS. RINEHART, SECONDED BY MR. GILLIAM THE MAYOR WAS <br />AUTHORIZED TO SIGN THE AGREEMENT FOR THE CHARLOTTESVILLE AREA <br />COMPREHENSIVE TRANSPORTATION PLANNING RESTUDY. <br /> <br /> <br />
