MS. <br />STEPHANIE HATHAWAY, ADDRESSED THE COUNCIL AND STATED THAT THE <br />UNIVERSITY LEAGUE STANDS READY TO COME TO THE AID OF THE ATTENTION <br /> <br />HOME AND THAT THE LEAGUE IS WILLING TO PLEDGE $15,000 OVER A TWO <br /> <br />YEAR PERIOD IF THE CITY ASSUMES RESPONSIBILITY. A MOTION BY MR. <br />VAN YAHRES, SECONDED BY MRS. RINEHART THAT A LETTER OF INTENT BE <br /> <br />SENT TO THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED. <br /> AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED ''AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE <br /> ISSUANCE OF THREE MILLION DOLLARS ($3,O00,000) GENERAL IMPROVEMENT <br /> BONDS OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA, FOR THE PURPOSE <br /> OF PROVIDING FUNDS TO PAY THE COST OF ACQUIRING, CONSTRUCTING, <br /> RECONSTRUCTING, IMPROVING, EXTENDING, ENLARGINE AND EQUIPPING <br /> VARIOUS PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS OF SAID CITY: FIXING THE FORMS <br /> AND DETAILS OF SAID BONDS: PROVIDING FOR THE SALE OF SAID BOND <br /> AND PROVIDING FOR THE PAYMENT OF SAID BONDS '', WAS OFFERED BY <br /> MRS. VAN YAHRES AND CARRIED OVER TO THE <br /> NEXT MEETING FOR CONSIDERATION- <br /> THE CITY MANAGER REPORTED THAT THE STAFF DOES NOT RECOMMEND <br /> USING UNOPENED CLEVELAND AVENUE FOR BICYCLE PATHS, AND BASED ON THE <br /> NEIGHBORHOOD ATTITUDE AND THE TOPOGRAPHY OF THE LAND IT WOULD BE <br /> UNWISE TO CONSIDER BUILDING THIS STREET AND RECOMMENDED THAT IT <br /> BE CLOSED. AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED '' AN ORDINANCE CLOSING, VACATING <br /> AND DISCONTINUING A PORTION OF UNOPENED CLEVELAND AVENUE IN THE <br /> CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE,''WAS OFFERED BY MR. VAN YAHRES, SECONDED <br /> BY MRS. RINEHART AND CARRIED OVER TO THE NEXT MEETING FOR <br /> CONSIDERATION. <br /> AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED ''AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REENACT <br /> SECTION 18-93.1 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1965, <br /> RELATING TO PERMIT PARKING ZONES," WHICH WAS OFFERED AT THE <br /> MEETING OF THE COUNCIL ON MAY 6, 1975, WAS ADOPTED BY THE <br /> FOLLOWING RECORDED VOTE. AYES: MR. BARBOUR, MR. FIFE, MR. GILLIAM, <br /> MRS. RINEHART AND MR. VAN YAHRES. NOES: NONE. <br /> AN ORDINANCE TO ESTABLISH ADDITIONAL PARKING PERMIT ZONES WAS <br /> ALSO CONSIDERED. SEVERAL RESIDENTS FROM EDGEWOOD LANE ADDRESSED <br /> THE COUNCIL AND REQUESTED ADOPTION OF THIS ORDINANCE TO APPLY <br /> TO THEIR STREET. A MOTION BY MR. GILLIAM, SECONDED BY MR. VAN <br /> YAHRES THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE TABLED UNTIL A WORK SESSION CAN BE <br /> HELD PRIOR TO JULY 1, 1975, WAS ADOPTED BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE. <br /> AYES: MR. BARBOUR, MR. FIFE, MR.
