2
Mr. Kevin Nobles, co - founder of Central Battery on Grady Avenue, said that if
parking is removed due to Preston Commons his business will have to move. Mr. Nobles
expressed concern that plans have been made so casually for this development.

Ms. Elizabeth Kutchai, 528 Valley Road, said that neighbors are concerned about
the proposed widening of Fontaine Avenue. She said that Mr. Elliott Towsey supports
the project because he wants sidewalks, and Ms. Janice Highlander wants a traffic light.
Ms. Kutchai said that other residents want a crosswalk, and asked that if the street is not
widened that these other improvements be made.

Mr. John Coleman, co - founder of Central Battery, said he hopes Council
understands the sense of outrage felt by business owners on Grady Avenue because of the
proposed Preston Commons development. Mr. Coleman said the process is wrong, the
project needs to be stopped, and other points of view need to be bro ught in because the
negative impacts are not being looked at.

th
Mr. Gaither Pratt, 413 9 Street, N.W., said that he has previously been
supportive of the Preston Commons proposal, but has withdrawn his support because
there has been virtually no communit y process and only one scheme was presented in the
RFP.

A resident of Fontaine Avenue asked that the widening of Fontaine Avenue be put
on the back burner, but asked that safe crossings and sidewalks be installed, and the
speed limit be reduced.

A resi dent of 2318 Fontaine Avenue said she does not want the street widened.

Ms. Lee Leavel, 2507 Summit, said sidewalks and crosswalks are needed on
Fontaine Avenue.

Mr. Brian Baird, 2112 Tarleton Drive, asked what is being done to increase the
capacity of the reservoirs.

Mr. Courtney James of Forest Ridge Road, said minor accidents occur on his
street because of the condition of the street and he is concerned about the safety of
children.

Ms. Fisher, 810 Stonehenge Avenue referring to the alley closing off Stonehenge
Avenue, said the alley is the only handicapped access to her house and she does not want
it closed.

Mr. Stratton Salidis, said he would like us to move away from massive road
projects, and suggested that funds be diverted to walking, biki ng and public
transportation. Mr. Salidis asked Council to support a charter change to allow
transportation referenda. Mr. Salidis also suggested that people be allowed to propose
their own plans and that referenda be held on those plans.

Responding to Mr. Kleeman, Mr. Cox said that there may be restrictions on the
use of funds where projects are already designed, and Mr. O'Connell said the pocket park
may qualify.

Mr. Caravati said that Council will be reconsidering leash laws in the upcoming
months.

Mr. Cox said that negotiations are ongoing with Piedmont Virginia Community
College for a dog run.

Mr. O'Connell said PVCC's local board has submitted the request to the state and
a final proposal will be brought back to Council.
