7 <br /> <br /> Mr. Schilling said if we get in and find we are spending $100,000 more at what <br />point would we no longer have to pay back the grant. <br /> <br /> Ms. Mueller said slightly under five years, but noted that we could do something <br />in the meantime to cut back on expenses. <br /> <br /> Mr. Cox asked if customer complaints will go to the City, and Ms. Mueller said <br />only as they relate to customer service in the bus station. <br /> <br /> Responding to a question from Mr. Cox, Ms. Mueller said revenues are expected <br />to exceed expenditures by a small amount, not counting the rental space. <br /> <br /> Mr. Caravati said that Greyhound buses do not obey the speed limits. He said he <br />wants to hold staff to the revenue pro jections. <br /> <br /> Mr. Caravati made a motion to approve the $141,035 appropriation for <br />Greyhound Bus Station Operations, and Ms. Richards seconded the motion. The <br />appropriation was carried over to the next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br /> Ms. Richards said that Al exandria has been a successful model for commuters' <br />use of transit. Ms. Richards said she hopes the relationship with Greyhound will provide <br />an opportunity to develop other routes for our citizens. <br /> <br /> Mr. Cox said he sees this as a strategic long - term inve stment and relationship with <br />Greyhound. <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />: MAY 5, 2003 <br /> <br />th <br /> Mr. Lynch made one correction and additions to the minutes of May 5 . <br /> <br />th <br /> On motion by Mr. Caravati, seconded by Mr. Schilling, the minutes of May 5 <br />were approved, as amended, by the followi ng vote. Ayes: Mr. Caravati, Mr. Cox, Mr. <br />Lynch, Ms. Richards, Mr. Schilling. Noes: None. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br /> <br />Mr. Peter Kleeman, 407 Hedge Street, said he has been discussing the traffic <br />calming process with Neighborhood Development Services for a year, in parti cular the <br />voting procedure. He said he believes it is flawed and encouraged that it be revised. He <br />asked Council to ask that it be reviewed prior to a new vote on traffic calming in his <br />neighborhood. <br /> <br /> Mr. Cox said he thinks the vote should be allowed t o happen since it has already <br />been mailed out. <br /> <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br /> <br /> <br />Mr. Schilling pointed out that Council is not following the operating guidelines <br />which states that only the Mayor or City Manager should respond to citizen comments. <br /> <br /> Mr. Caravati said he does not think any of Council is following the operating <br />guidelines. <br /> <br /> Mr. Cox said he thinks Council either needs to abide by the guidelines or should <br />discard them. <br /> <br /> Mr. Cox reminded the public that there will be a Transit Center presentation on <br />Wednesda y at Charlottesville High School. <br /> <br />
