Staff shall provide Council with a report of their research by the end of October, <br />2003. <br /> <br /> Ms. Richards said she welcomes a study of the water conservation program, but <br />thinks that water conservation at all times is warranted. <br /> <br />nd <br />APPROPRIATION <br />: $141,035 - GREYHOUND BUS STATION OPERATION (2 <br />reading) <br /> <br /> Mr. Schilling said he would like to sunset this appropriation and revisit the issue <br />in a year to see how reality is confirming to the projections. <br /> <br /> Mr. Caravati said that this will be part of next year's budget review. <br /> <br /> Ms. Richards expressed concern that if it is sunsetted it could destabilize the <br />relationship with Greyhound. <br /> <br /> Ms. Judy Mueller, Director of Public Works, said that the contract with <br />Greyhound is for five years and the grant is based on a five - year contract, but said that <br />the money has to be appropriated each year. <br /> <br /> Mr. Schilling said he would like the same information provided with the budget <br />that has been provided for this appropriation. <br /> <br /> Ms. Mueller said the information can be provided as part of the budget process. <br /> <br /> Mr. Schilling said he would like to make that request now. <br /> <br /> The appropriation of $141,035 for Greyhound Bus Station Operations, which was <br />th <br />offered at t he May 19 meeting, was approved by the following vote. Ayes: Mr. <br />Caravati, Mr. Cox, Mr. Lynch, Ms. Richards. Noes: Mr. Schilling. <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br /> the City of Charlottesville has agreed to take over operations of the <br /> <br />Greyhound Bus Station on West Main Street ; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br />, revenues from ticket sales, Western Union, vending machines, and <br />other miscellaneous fees are expected to exceed expenditures; now, therefore <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED <br /> by the Council of the City of Charlottes ville, Virginia, that <br />the sum of $141,03 5.00, received from said revenues, is hereby appropriated to account <br /> <br />45 - 191 - 141414 - 50111 in the Transit Fund for expenses associated with salaries, benefits, <br />supplies, utilities, and maintenance related to operation of the Greyhound Bus Station <br />through the end of fiscal year 2004. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br />st <br /> Ms. Kathy Icenhour, 500 South 1 Street, said public transportation is important <br />to people. She said the bricks on the downtown mall really need to be fixed. <br /> <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br /> <br /> Mr. Cox announced that there are only five applications for the three vacancies on <br />the School Board, and asked if Councilors would like to extend the deadline. <br /> <br /> Mr. Schilling said that in light of the fact that there are five applications for three <br />seats, he is comfortable moving forward. He said extending the deadline would be <br />punitive to those who applied by the original deadline. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lynch said he always likes to see more applicants and suggested extending <br />th <br />the deadline to June 6 . <br /> <br />
