NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY COUNCIL WILL BE HELD ON Monday, June 30, 2003 AT 8:00 a.m. IN THE Second Floor Conference Room. THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: Closed session as provided by Section 2.2 - 3712 of the Virginia Code APPOINTMENTS: Charlottesville School Board BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR BY Jeanne Cox SECOND FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM - June 30, 2003 Council met in special session on this date with the following members present: Mr. Caravati, Mr. Cox , Mr. Lynch, Ms. Richards, Mr. Schilling. On motion by Mr. Caravati, seconded by Mr. Lynch, Council voted (Ayes: Mr. Caravati, Mr. Cox, Mr. Lynch, Ms. Richards, Mr. Schilling. Noes: None) to go into a closed session for discussion and consideration of appointments of prospective candidates to the City School Board, as authorized by Section 2.2 - 3711(A)(1) of the Virginia Code. On motion by Mr. Caravati, seconded by Mr. Lynch, Council certified by the following vote (Ayes: Mr. Caravati, Mr. Cox, Mr. Lynch, Ms. Richards, Mr. Schilling. Noes: None) that to the best of each Council Member's knowledge, only public business matters lawfully exempted from the open meeting requirements of the Virginia Freedom of Information Act and identified in the motion convening the closed session were heard, discussed or considered in the closed session. APPOINTMENTS : CHARLOTTESVILLE SCHOOL BOARD On motion by Ms. Richards, seconded by Mr. Lynch, Ms. Dierdre Smith and Ms. Muriel Wiggins were reappointed to three - yea r terms, and Mr. Byron Brown was appointed to an unexpired term on the Charlottesville School Board by the following vote. Ayes: Mr. Caravati, Mr. Cox, Mr. Lynch, Ms. Richards, Mr. Schilling. Noes: None. Ms. Smith's and Ms. Wiggins' terms will expire on June 30, 2006, and Mr. Brown's term will expire on June 30, 2005.
