2 <br />WHEREAS, <br /> Virginia Commonwealth University has awa rded the City of <br />Charlottesville a $42,938 grant for a 30 hour/per week social work field unit instructor <br />position for FY04; now, therefore <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED <br /> by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, that a <br />total of $ 42,938 is hereby appropria ted into account 12 - 161 - 062320 - 50111 in the Social <br /> <br />Services Fund. <br /> <br />This appropriation is renewable for up to 3 years, and the position will continue <br />only as long as there are non - local funds available for it. <br /> <br />nd <br />APPROPRIATION <br />d. : $5,000 - Arts Challenge Grant (2 reading) <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> the Virginia Commission for the Arts has notified the City of its <br />grant award in the Local Government Challenge Grant category; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED <br /> by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, that <br />$2,5 00 of the amount reserved from such grant is hereby appropriated to Grants Fund <br />expenditure account 11 - 042 - 071050 for use by the Piedmont Council for the Arts for its <br />activities during the 2003 - 2004 fiscal year, and $2,500 of the amount reserved from such <br />grant is hereby appropriated to Grants Fund expenditure account 11 - 042 - 071060 for use <br />by the Virginia Discovery Museum for its activities during the 2003 - 2004 fiscal year. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION <br />e. : $128,686 - Victim Witness Program Grant (carried over) <br /> <br />APPR OPRIATION <br />f. : $9,456 - Juvenile Court Assessment Center Grant <br /> (carried over) <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION <br />g. : $111,782 - Young Juvenile Offender Grant (carried over) <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION <br />h. : $3,301.40 - Demolition Cost Reimbursement (carried over) <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION <br />i. : $42,75 8 - TeamWorks Grant (carried over) <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION <br />j. : $108,851 - Substance Abuse Grant (carried over) <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION <br />k. : $15,000 - Lewis and Clark Festival Grant (carried over) <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br />l. : VDOT Resolution - Railway Signals at Carlton Road <br /> <br />WHERE AS <br />, in accordance with Virginia Department of Transportation <br />construction allocation procedures, it is necessary that a request by council resolution be <br />made in order that the Department program an urban highway project in the City of <br />Charlottesville; now <br /> <br />THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED <br />, that the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia requests the Virginia Department of Transportation to establish <br />an urban system highway project for installation of flashing light signals and gates at the <br />railroad crossi ng on Carlton Road/Meade Avenue in the City of Charlottesville. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED <br />, that the Council of the City of Charlottesville <br />hereby agrees to pay its share, if any, of the total cost for preliminary engineering, right <br />of way and construction in accordance with Section 33.1 - 44 of the Code of Virginia, and <br />that, if the City of Charlottesville subsequently elects to cancel this project, the City of <br />Charlottesville hereby agrees to reimburse the Virginia Department of Transportation for <br />the total am ount of the costs expended by the Department through the date the <br />Department is notified of such cancellation. The City also agrees to pay to CSX <br />Transportation, Inc. 50% of the annual maintenance cost of the light signals and gates, <br />which amount shall be billed to the City on or before December 31 of each year. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
