NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY COUNCIL WILL BE <br />HELD ON Tuesday, September 30, 2003 AT 11:20 a.m. IN THE Doubletree Hotel <br /> <br />THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION: Confirming Declaration of Local Emergency <br /> <br /> Chamber of Commerce Local Government Luncheon <br /> <br />BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR BY Jeanne Cox <br /> <br />DOUBLETREE HOTEL - September 30, 2003 <br /> <br /> Council met in special session on this date with the following members present: <br />Mr. Caravati, Mr. Cox, Mr. Lynch, Ms. Richard s. Absent: Mr. Schilling. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br />: CONFIRMING DECLARATION OF LOCAL EMERGENCY <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Caravati, seconded by Ms. Richards, Council approved the <br />Resolution Confirming the Declaration of Local Emergency by the following vote. Ayes: <br />Mr. Cara vati, Mr. Cox, Ms. Richards. Noes: None. Absent for the vote: Mr. Lynch. <br />Absent: Mr. Schilling. <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br /> , by Resolution adopted April 21, 2003 City Council designated the <br />City Manager as Director of Emergency Management for the City of Charlottesvil le; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br /> , pursuant to the authority vested in him by Virginia Code Section <br />44 - 146.21 the City Manager, acting in his capacity as the City's Director of Emergency <br />Management, issued a Declaration of Local Emergency on September 17, 2003 in <br />response to the imminent threat of disaster posed by Hurricane Isabel; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br /> , the Virginia Emergency Services and Disaster Law provides that <br />the declaration of a local emergency by a Director of Emergency Management is subject <br />to confirmation by the locali ty's governing body at is next regularly scheduled meeting or <br />at a special meeting within fourteen days of the declaration, whichever occurs first. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED <br /> by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia that pursuant to Vi rginia Code Section 44 - 146.21 City Council <br />hereby confirms the Declaration of Local Emergency issued by the City Manager on <br />September 17, 2003, a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit A and is hereby <br />incorporated by reference. <br /> <br /> Councilors attended t he Chamber of Commerce Local Government Luncheon. <br /> <br /> The meeting was adjourned. <br /> <br />______________________________ ____________________________ <br />President Clerk <br />
