2 <br /> Mr. Cox asked if instructional aids would choose a cut in staff or no salary <br />increase if given the choice. <br /> <br /> Mr. Hutchinson said he does not think a correlation has been found between <br />instructional assistants and success with students. Mr. Hutchinson said student <br />achievement is tied to good teachers. <br /> <br /> Ms. Julie Gronlund, School Board member, said the School Board is keeping an <br />eye on intervention and said there may be a better way to serve students rather than with <br />instructional aids. <br /> <br /> Ms. Peggy Van Yahres, School Board member, said the choices in the budget <br />were made with input from principals and leaderships teams. <br /> <br /> Responding to a question from Mr. Schillin g, Mr. Hutchinson said the probability <br />of having to go to a choice system is very high. <br /> <br />APPOINTMENT <br />: CHARLOTTESVILLE REDEVELOPMENT AND HOUSING <br />AUTHORITY <br /> <br /> Mr. Caravati made a motion to appoint Mr. Richard Jones to an unexpired term on <br />the Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority Board of Directors. His <br />motion died for lack of a second. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Schilling, seconded by Ms. Richards, Mr. Richard Jones was <br />appointed to an unexpired plus three - year term on the Charlottesville Redevelopmen t and <br />Housing Authority Board of Directors by the following vote. Ayes: Mr. Caravati, Mr. <br />Cox, Mr. Lynch, Ms. Richards, Mr. Schilling.
