5 <br /> <br /> Reducing economic development by $150,000 (not approved) : Mr. Lynch and <br />Mr. Schilling agreed. Mr. Caravati, Mr. Cox and Ms. Richards did not agree. <br /> <br /> Reducing economic development by $50,000 (approved) : Proposed by Mr. <br />Caravati, Mr. Caravati , Mr. Lynch and Mr. Schilling agreed. Mr. Cox did not agree and <br />Ms. Richards said she would have to think about it. <br /> <br /> Reducing landscape beautification by $25,000 (approved) : Mr. Caravati, Mr. <br />Cox, Mr. Lynch and Mr. Schilling agreed. Ms. Richards did n ot agree. <br /> <br /> Reducing pay for performance to 2 1/2% or comparable staff reduction (not <br />approved): Mr. Lynch and Mr. Schilling agreed. Mr. Caravati, Mr. Cox, Ms. Richards <br />did not agree. <br /> <br /> Reducing Charlottesville High School renovations by $260,000 (not ap proved): <br />Mr. Schilling agreed. Mr. Caravati, Mr. Cox, Mr. Lynch and Ms. Richards did not agree. <br />Mr. Lynch said we committed to the Schools when we increased the meals tax that the <br />funds would go toward their priorities. Mr. Cox said he feels the redu ction amount is <br />arbitrary and he assumes that the renovations are based on need. He agreed that Council <br />made a commitment to the School Board. Mr. Lynch asked that Mr. Schilling, as a <br />representative on the School Capital Projects Committee, come back wit h more <br />information and a recommendation about where the money should be spent. Mr. <br />Schilling said there is no support for the reduction so there is not need to do that. <br /> <br /> Reducing McIntire Park by $41,000 (approved): Mr. Caravati, Ms. Richards and <br />Mr. Sc hilling agreed. Mr. Cox and Mr. Lynch did not agree. <br /> <br />Eliminating bus Route 12 ($86,000) (approved): Mr. Caravati, Mr. Cox, Mr. <br />Lynch, Ms. Richards and Mr. Schilling agreed. Mr. Schilling said his approval is <br />conditional upon review of information. He said he would like to quantify ridership. He <br />said he is bothered that he was not told this was a staff recommendation, and said he <br />would be interested in other reductions recommended by staff. <br /> <br />Reducing neighborhood/Comprehensive Plan initiatives by $50, 000 (not <br />approved): Mr. Caravati and Mr. Schilling agreed. Mr. Cox, Mr. Lynch, and Ms. <br />Richards did not agree. Mr. Schilling said he would cut more and would prefer to move <br />to having city wide projects. Mr. Lynch said he would like to review how the f unds are <br />allocated. <br /> <br />Increase tax relief asset limit to $125,000 (approved): Mr. Caravati, Mr. Cox, Mr. <br />Lynch and Ms. Richards agreed. Mr. Schilling did not agree. He said he feels this is a <br />band - aid approach. Mr. Lynch said he would also like to bring the income level down to <br />$35,000 but there was no agreement to do that. <br /> <br />Increasing the minimum wage for all City employees to $9 per hour (approved): <br />Mr. Caravati, Mr. Cox, Mr. Lynch and Ms. Richards agreed. Mr. Schilling did not. Ms. <br />Richards said sh e would like to reduce the commitment for seasonal employees and Mr. <br />Lynch said he would like to look position by position, but there was no agreement to do <br />that. <br /> <br />Increasing funding to Schools by $150,000 (not approved): Mr. Lynch agreed. <br />Mr. Caravati, Mr. Cox, Ms. Richards and Mr. Schilling did not agree. <br /> <br />Provide $10,000 for Quality Community Council (approved): Mr. Cox, Mr. <br />Lynch, and Ms. Richards agreed. Mr. Caravati and Mr. Schilling did not agree. Mr. <br />Lynch said his support is conditional upon having a report from QCC. <br /> <br />Increase funding for Charlottesville Center for Contemporary Arts to a total of <br />$20,000 (approved): Mr. Cox, Mr. Lynch and Ms. Richards agreed. Mr. Caravati and <br />Mr. Schilling did not agree. <br /> <br />
