Caravati, Mr. Bunster said that the plan is to <br />keep the willow oak trees and if they need to be replaced, replace them with the same <br />species. He said the plan is to replace the maples because they are the wrong kind. He <br />said trees on the sidestreets wo uld be diversified. <br /> <br /> Mr. Caravati said he wants to think more about the lights proposed. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lynch suggested that the presentation be put on Neighborhood Development <br />Services' website. He said he has some aesthetic issues, but would like to have more <br />p eople weigh in on the issue. He said he would like to see more detail about the fire lane. <br />Regarding the sequencing of the brick replacement, he said he would like to take care of <br />maintenance issues first. <br /> <br />nd <br /> Mr. Cox said that the 2 Street crossing is a priority for him. He asked if the drop <br />nd <br />off for the proposed hotel was taken into account on 2 Street, and Mr. Bunster said to <br />some degree, noting that he just got their plans. He said some adjustments may have to <br />be made. <br /> <br /> Mr. Cox said how far the si dewalks are going out to capture the entrance to the <br />mall with superwide sidewalks is dramatic. He said he hopes we can go forward with <br />this earlier. He said he is pleased to see the fountain and asked if that could be added to <br />other entrances. He asked if existing sidestreets could be softened with more trees. He <br />rd <br />asked if the location for the tent on 3 Street was agreed to by the Paramount Theater. <br /> <br /> Mr. Tolbert said the Paramount asked for a space for a tent and this is the only <br />place where a tent c ould fit. <br /> <br /> Mr. Cox echoed Ms. Richards comments and said he is pleased that this was taken <br />on as preservation and restoration of the Halprin project. Mr. Cox asked if the CIP <br />includes funding for phasing of things beyond the mall. <br /> <br />rd nd <br /> Mr. Tolbert said the CIP anticipates work on 3 Street and the 2 Street crossing <br />improvements. He said they hope to partner on some of the other projects. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lynch asked when the first piece will be out to bid, and Mr. Tolbert said it <br />rd <br />will take 60 days to finish the doc ument and he hopes that 3 Street and the mall crossing <br />will be ready to go by the end of summer. <br /> <br /> Responding to a question from Mr. Cox, Mr. Tolbert said there are no plans for <br />the west end of the mall, but the Omni Hotel wanting café space may make us want to <br />look at that further. <br /> <br /> Mr. O'Connell said we may want to revisit the idea of a Business Improvement <br />District. <br /> <br />REPORT <br />: ARTS AND CULTURE TASK FORCE <br /> <br /> Mr. O'Connell said that the Arts and Culture Task Force was created in the fall <br />and was charged w ith trying to look at ways to enhance arts and culture and make <br />recommendations regarding the City's role. <br /> <br /> Mr. Paul Wagoner, a member of the Arts and Culture Task Force, said he is <br />convinced of the importance of arts and culture in the City. He said the re is concern <br />about how the City funds arts and recommended that the City establish an Arts and <br />Culture Commission. <br /> <br /> Ms. Jessica Nagle, a Task Force member, said she feels it is time to formalize and <br />organize a process for the City to support the arts. S he said arts attract people to the City. <br /> <br />
