PONTON THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION <br />WAS OFFERED AND CARRIED OVER TO THE NEXT MEETING FOR CONSIDERATION: <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED aY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE <br /> THAT ~7~000.00 BE AND THE SAME IS HEREBY APPROPRIATED AS THE CITY'S <br /> SHARE OF THE OFFICE OF THE CIVIL DEFENSE COORDINATOR OF THE CITY OF <br /> CHARLOTTESVILLE FOR THE YEAR ENDING JUNE 30~ 1962. <br /> <br /> PROPOSED ANNUAL BUDGET FOR CIVIL DEFENSE <br /> <br />COORDINATOR <br /> <br />SALARY - COORDINATOR <br />SALARY - SECRETARY <br />RENT~ OFFICE SUPPLIES~ TRAVEL~ <br />TELEPHONE~ ETC. <br /> <br />TOTAL <br />1,~ TO BE PAID BY <br /> NATIONAL <br /> CIVIL <br /> DEFENSE <br /> <br />To BE PAID BY CITY <br /> <br /> ~7~000.00 <br /> 3~000.00 <br /> <br />4~000.00 <br />$t4~000.00 <br />7~000.00 <br />$ 7~000.00 <br /> <br /> THE CITY MANAGER ADVISED THE COUNCIL THAT THE RIGHT OF WAY PLANS FOR THE <br />EMMETT STREET WIDENING PROJECT HAD BEEN COMPLETED BY THE STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT <br />AND HAD BEEN RECEIVED BY HIND~, H~;*EXPLAINED THAT IT WAS NECESSARY TO HAVE TWO <br />SEPARATE APPRAISALS MADE ON EACH PARCEL OF PROPERTY TO BE PURCHASED AND USED IN THE <br />CONSTRUCTION OF THiS PROJECT. HE RECOMMENDED THAT HE BE AUTHORIZED TO EMPLOY <br />MR. CARROLLWRIGHT AND MR. JOHN Bo GORDON TO DO THIS APPRAISAL WORK AND THAT THE <br />RATE_ OF PAY BE SET AT A SUM NOT EXCEEDING ~100,00 PER DAY FOR THE TINE DEVOTED TO <br />THIS WORK. <br /> <br /> ON MOTION BY MR, MOUNT~ SECONDED BY HR. LEE THE FOLLOWlNGRESOLUTION WAS <br />UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED: <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CiTY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE <br /> <br /> THAT THE FOREGOING RECOMMENDATION BY THE CITY MANAGER BE AND THE <br /> SAME IS HEREBY APPROVED AND THAT HE BE AUTHORIZED TO EMPLOY THE <br /> AFOREMENTIONED APPRAISERS' AT A RATE OF PAY NOT EXCEEDING ~100.00 <br /> PER DAY~ SUBJECT TO THE APPROVAL OF THE STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT~ <br /> AND <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT THE PLANS AS PREPARED BY THE <br /> <br /> STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT BE AND THEY ARE:HEREBY APPROVED. <br /> <br /> ON MOTION BY MR. LEE~ SECONDED BY MR. PONTON,~ THE CITY MANAGER WAS AUTHORIZED <br />TO EXECUTE SALES AGREEMENT WiTH THE VIRGINIA TELEPHONE AND TELEGRAPH COMPANY <br />CONVEYING TO IT APPROXIMATELY 11~000 FEET OF THE CITY'S TELEPHONE LINE NEAR WHITE <br />HALE. THIS AUTHORIZATION WAS GIVEN AFTER MR. BOWEN STATED THAT THE TELEPHONE <br />COMPANY IN A LETTER TO HIMj PROMISED TO CONTINUE TO PROVIDE THE SAME SERVICE TO <br />MOORMAN'S RIVER DAM. <br /> <br /> THE FOLLOWING REPORT OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION WAS PRESENTED: <br /> <br /> THE FOLLOWING IS AN EXTRACT FROM THE MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br /> <br /> OF CITY PLANNING COMMISSION HELD ON SEPTEMBER 1~ 1961: <br /> <br /> "COMMUNICATION CITY COUNCi~ RE: EXTENSION OF CITY UTILITIES <br /> <br /> BEYOND THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY. <br /> <br /> AFTER OlSCUSSION~ IT WAS MOVED BY MR, RINEHART~ SECONDED BY <br /> <br /> MR. O~RINCE AND UNANIMOUSLY VOTED THAT THE FOLLOWING POLICY BE <br /> <br /> RECOMMENDED TO CITY COUNCIL FOR ADOPTION: <br /> <br /> THE PLANNING COMMISSION AND THE UTILITIES COMMITTEE RESPECTFULLY <br /> RECOMMEND THAT ALL REQUESTS FOR WATER LINE EXTENSIONS FOR RESIDENTIAL <br /> DEVELOPMENT BEYOND THE NEW CORPORATE LIMITS BE REFUSED UNTIL SUCH <br /> <br /> <br />
