LEE, ~/AS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED: <br /> AUGUST 3s 1962 <br /> <br />STREET COMMITTEE REPORT <br />ADOPTED RE: BERRING AND <br />LINOEN STSo <br /> <br />To THE ~EMBERS OF THE COUNCIL <br />CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA <br /> <br />GENTLEMEN: <br /> <br /> YOUR STREET COMMITTEE HAS INVESTIGATED THE PETITION DATED JUNE 4~ 1962 <br />WHICH REQUESTED THE CITY TO ACCEPT BERRING AND LINDEN STREETS INTO THE CITY <br />STREET SYSTEM FOR MAINTENANCE. <br /> <br /> THE ATTACHED PLATS SHOW BERRtNG STREET TO BE A t~~ ALLEY AND A PLAT <br />CORDED IN DB 77 p. 408' SHOWS THAT THE PROPERTY O~NER ON THE NORTH SIDE O~NS <br />TO THE CENTER OF THiS ALLEY. THE PLAT ON LINDEN STREET SHOWS IT TO BE 16 <br />~iDE AT RIDGE STREET AND THAT IT ENDS AT AN ALLEY ABOUT 93~ FROM 5TH STREET. <br />BOTH LINDEN AND BERRING STREETS ARE VERY STEEP AND IN VERY BAD CONDITION~ <br />AND NEITHER ONE HAS A SUFFICIENT RIGHT OF WAY ~IDTH TO CONSTRUCT A STREET <br />WHICH COULD BE SAFELY USED OR PROPERLY MAINTAINED. <br /> ~E RESPECTFULLY RECOMMEND THAT THE PETITION BE DENIED UNTIL SUCH TIME <br />AS THE ABUTTING PROPERTY OWNERS WILL DEDICATE A SUFFICIENT AMOUNT OF LAND SO <br />AS TO HAKE THE RIGHT OF WAY NOT LESS THAN 30 FEET EACH AND ~iLL GRADE AND <br />STONE THE STREETS TO MEET CITY SPEClFICATIONSs ALL IN KEEPING WITH THE CITY'S <br />ESTABLISHED POLICY IN REGARD TO STREETS. <br /> <br />RESEECTFULLY SUBMITTED, <br /> <br />R.
