RESOLUTION RE= <br />NATIONAL GUARD ARMORY <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION <br />OVER-EXPENDED ACCOUNTS <br /> <br />ORDINANCE ADOPTED RE: <br />SEC. 9, CHAP. 35 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE CARRIED OVER <br />RE: SEC. 17, CHAP. 14 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE CARRIED OVER <br />RE: SEC. 1, CHAP. 35 <br /> <br />SPECIAL.[MEETING. SET- <br />SIGN ORDINANCE <br />JULY 17, 1963 <br /> <br />MATTER RE: PLAYGROUND <br />LOCUST AVE. AREA <br /> <br />APPOINTHENTS <br />WELFARE ADVISORY <br />BOARD <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE IS IN NEED OF AND WISHES TO HAVE <br />CONSTRUCTED A NEW NATIONAL GUARD ARMORY IN THIS CITY, AND <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, THE CITY NEEDS FOR RECREATIONAL PURPOSES THE BUILDING WHICH <br /> <br />IS NOW USED TO HOUSE THE NATIONAL GUARD <br /> <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTES- <br /> <br />VILLE THAT THE ADJUTANT GENERAL OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA BE AND HE IS <br />HEREBY REQUESTED TO PROCEED WITH THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW NATIONAL GUARD ARMORY <br />IN THIS CITY, AND <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED THAT THIS CITY HEREBY AGREES TO PAY THE SUM OF ~20,000.00 <br />TOWARD THE ACTUAL CONSTRUCTION OF THE BUILDING PLUS ANY OTHER ITEMS THAT MIGHT <br />BE REQUESTED BY THE CITY, AND <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY WILL PROVIDE A CONSTRUCTION SITE SUITABLE <br /> <br />FOR THE ARMORY, AND <br /> <br /> BE iT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT THE ADJUTANT GENERAL BE AND HE IS HEREBY RE- <br /> <br /> QUESTED TO APPLY FOR THE NECESSARY FUNDS AND TO SUBMIT THE USUAL AGREEMENT FOR <br /> <br /> EXECUTION BY THE CITY IN ORDER TO PROCEED WITH THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW <br /> <br /> BUILDING. <br /> THE RESOLUTION APPROPRIATING ~93,770.95 FOR OVER-EXPENDED ACCOUNTS IN THE <br /> .1962-63 BUDGET, WHICH WAS OFFERED AT THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL ON JULY 1, 1963, <br /> <br /> WAS ADOPTED BY THE FOLLOWING RECORDED. VOTE: AYES: MR. HAGGERTY, HR. LEE~ HR. HOUNT~ <br /> MR. PONTON AND HR. SCRIBNER. PONTON, SECONDED BY MR. MOUNT, AND CARRIED OVER TO THE NEXT <br /> HEETING FOR CONSIDERATION. <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND REENACTING SECTION 1 OF <br /> <br /> CHAPTER 35 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1959, ENTITLED 'APPLICATION <br /> <br /> FOR SERVICE; DEPOSITS; HAKING CONNECTIONS,AND INSTALLING HETERS; TEHPORARY CONNECTION; <br /> <br /> CHARGE FOR TURNING ON WATER' "WAS OFFERED BY MR. LEE, SECONDED BY HR. MOUNT~ AND <br /> CARRIED OVER TO THE NEXT MEETING FOR CONSIDERATION. <br /> <br /> HR. MOUNT REQUESTED THAT COUNCIL HOLD A SPECIAL MEETING TO STUDY THE SIGN <br /> ORDINANCE PRIOR TO A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE ORDINANCE. THE MAYOR DIRECTED THAT A <br /> SPECIAL MEETING OF COUNCIL BE HELD ON JULY 17, 1963, AT 8:00 P. M. FOR THE PURPOSE <br /> OF DISCUSSING THE SIGN ORDINANCE. <br /> <br /> MR. PONTON REPORTED THAT THE PETITION BY RESIDENTS OF THE LOCUST AVENUE AREA <br /> <br /> FOR A PLAYGROUND HAS BEEN :ANSWERED BY INFORMING THEM THAT THERE IS AN EXISTING CITY <br /> PLAYGROUND ON THE BURNLEY-MORAN SCHOOL PROPERTY. <br /> <br /> THE MAYOR ~ADE THE FOLLOWING APPOINTMENTS TO THE ~ELFARE ADVISORY BOARD FOR A <br /> TERM TO EXPIRE JUNE 30~ 1964: <br /> <br /> HISS FLORENCE BUFORD MRS. ~.
