REV. H. F. <br />JOHNSON ADDRESSED THE COUNCIL ON BEHALF OF THIS PETITION. AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND REENACTING THE DISTRICT MAP INCORPORATED IN SECTION 4 OF <br />ARTICLE II! OF APPENDIX II OF THE CODE OF THE ClT? OF CHARLOTTESVILLE~ 1959~ BY THE <br />REZONING OF A PARCEL OF LAND FRONTING 275 FEET ON THE WESTERN SIDE OF PRESTON AVENUE" <br /> <br />WAS OFFERED BY MR. SCRIBNER~ SECONDED BY MR. PONTON AND CARRIED OVER TO THE NEXT <br />MEETING FOR CONSIDERATION. <br /> A PUBLIC HEARING WAS ALSO HELD ON A PET TION TO REZONE LOTS 4 THROUGH 78 ON <br />THE WEST SIDE OF PRESTON AVENUE FROM R 3 HULTiPLE DWELLING TO R 2 RESIDENTIAL. A <br /> <br />COMMUNICATION WAS PRESENTED FROM THE PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDING THAT THIS <br /> <br />REQUEST BE DENIED. HR. C. A. VIA ADDRESSED THE COUNCIL IN OPPOSITION TO THIS <br /> <br />PETITION. ON MOTION BY MR. PONTON~ SECONDED BY MR. SCRIBNER~ THE RECOMMENDATION OF <br /> <br />THE PLANNING COMMISSION WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED. <br /> <br /> A PUBLIC HEARING WAS HELD ON THE PETITION OF GEORGE R. FERGUSON TO PERMIT <br /> <br />FUNERAL HOMES IN R 3 RESIDENTIAL DISTRICTS. HR. BERNARD CHAMBERLAIN~ ON BEHALF <br /> <br />OF THE PETITIONER~ ADDRESSED THE COUNCIL ON BEHALF OF THIS PETITION. HR. HUSSELMAN REPRESENTING <br /> <br />THE JEFFERSON HILLS CORPORATION REQUESTED THE HAYOR TO EXECUTE THE DEED IN ORDER TO <br /> <br />RELEASE THE OLD EASEMENT. THIS MATTER WAS REFERRED TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION FOR <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION. <br /> <br /> A PETITION TO CLOSE NORTH STREET FROM ROBERTSON AVENUE TO THE SOUTHERN RAILWAY <br /> <br />WAS REFERRED TO THE PLANNING COMHISSION FOR RECOHMENDATION. <br /> <br /> A COMMUNICATION WAS PRESENTED FROM THE BEAUTIFICATION COMMISSION OFFERING TO <br /> <br />GIVE THE CITY THIRTY-SIX (36) HANGING FLOWER BASKETS FOR THE LIGHT POSTS ACROSS <br /> <br />BELMONT BRIDGE.
