RESOLUTION ADOPTED-
ORDERED PRESENTED
AND READ AT PUBLIC
HEARING

10. IT I$ THE CONSIDERED OPINION OF THE OFFICIALS OF THIS CITY THAT

THE COSTS FOR RIGHTS OF WAY~ DAMAGES AND LEGAL COSTS FOR CONDEMNATION
PROCEEDINGS FOR LAND TO CONSTRUCT LINES ~Bw~ OR ~WCB~t IN THE VICINITY OF
THIS CITY AND IN ALBEMARLE COUNTY WOULD BE FAR GREATER THAN IT WOULD BE
FOR LINE ~tCt~. THE NORTHERN AREA OF THE CITY AND ADJOINING SECTION OF
ALBEMARLE COUNTY IS DEVELOPING RAPIDLY INTO HIGH RESIDENTIAL SUBDIVISIONS
AND PRIOR TO THE TIME THAT THE RIGHTS OF WAY COULD BE SECURED MANY MORE
BUILDINGS AND SUBDIVISIONS WILL HAVE BEEN CONSTRUCTED IN THE AREA AND IT
IS A MATTER OF RECORD THAT THE LARGE ESTATES ON THE NORTH AND NORTHWEST
OF THE CITY ARE BITTERLY OPPOSED TO THE CONSTRUCTION OF AN INTERSTATE
ROUTE THROUGH OR NEAR THEIR PROPERTY SO THAT THEY WILL SURELY BE UNWILLING
SELLERS AND THE DAHAGES MAY BE VERY HIGH AND

11. ROUTE ~C~ THROUGH INTERCHANGE ON 29129A WOULD SURELY PROVIDE

BETTER SERVICE BETWEEN THIS CITY AND THE CITIES OF WAYNESBORO AND STAUNTON~

AND

12. THE ECONOHlCAL BENEFITS WHICH WOULD ACCRUE TO THIS GROWING CITY

ALONE WOULD MORE THAN OFFSET THE ADDITIONAL INITIAL COST OF LINE ~C~ AND THE
COUNCIL OF THIS CITY STRONGLY URGES THAT ROUTE 64 BE CONSTRUCTED GENERALLY
ALONG LINE ~C~ AS SOON AS IS PRACTICAL AND POSSIBLE.

A ~OTION BY MR. SCRIBNER~ SECONDED BY MR.
