HAGGERTY~ <br />HR. HOUNT~ HR. RENNOLDSo NOES: HR. PONTON~AN~ HR. SCRIBNER. <br /> <br /> THE ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 37.1 BY THE ADDITION OF A NEW SECTION NUMBERED <br />37.1-37, WHICH WAS OFFERED AT THE LAST MEETING OF THE COUNCIL CAME UP FOR DISCUSSION. <br />MR. HAGGERTY~MOVED THAT THE ORDINANCE BE AMENDED SO AS TO MEET THE COUNClLtS <br />INTENTION THAT A HOUSE WHICH BECOMES VACANT AND WHICH COULD BE MADE REHABITABLE <br />UNDER THE CITY BUILDING CODE SHOULD REMAIN VACANT AND BE CONDEMNED IF SUCH REPAIRS <br />WERE NOT MADE. THIS AMENDMENT WAS SECONDED BY HR. RENNOLDS~ AND ADOPTED BY THE <br />FOLLOWING VOTE: AYES: HR. HAGGERTY~ HR. HOUNT AND HR. RENNOLDS[i NOES: HR. PONTON <br />AND HR. SCRIBNER~ SECONDED BY ~R, HAGGERTY~ THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION <br />WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED: <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, THE INTERSECTION OF THE ROUTE 250 BY-PASS AND ROUTE 250 WEST <br />PRESENTS A VERY DANGEROUS INTERSECTION AND SOMETIMES CAUSES TRAFFIC TO BACK UP <br />ON THE ROUTE 250 BY-PASS A LONG DISTANCE DUE TO INABILITY TO ENTER ROUTE 250 <br />~EST AND~ <br /> <br /> ~/HEREAS~ THIS COUNCIL FEELS THAT A MERGING LANE FROM THE ROUTE 250 <br /> <br />BY-PAss TO ROUTE ~50 WEST WOULD ELIMINATE THIS BAD INTERSECTION AND SHOULD BE <br />CONSTRUCTED, <br /> <br /> N0~/~ THEREFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />CHARLOTTESVILLE THAT THE STATE HIGHWAY COMMISSION BE AND THEY ARE HEREBY <br />URGED TO CONSTRUCT A MERGING LANE FROM THE ROUTE 250 BY-PAss TO ROUTE ~50 <br />WEST AS SOON AS FUNDS ARE AVAILABLE FOR THIS PURPOSE SINCE THIS COUNCIL <br />FEELS THAT THIS DANGEROUS INTERSECTION SHOULD BE ELIMINATED AS SOON AS <br /> <br />POSSIBLE. <br /> <br /> ON MOTION THE MEETING ADJOURNED. <br /> <br />CLERK <br /> <br />REQUEST FOR ORDINANCE <br />RE: FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH <br /> <br />COUNCIL CHAHBER - JULY 19~ 1965 <br /> <br /> THE COUNCIL MET IN REGULAR SESSION ON THIS DATE WITH THE FOLLOWING MEHBERS <br />PRESENT= HR. HAGGERTY~ HR, HOUNT~ HR. PONTON~ HR. RENNOLDS AND HR, SCRIBNER. <br />ABSENT: NONE. <br /> <br /> THE MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF JULY 6~ 1965 WERE READ AND APPROVED. <br /> <br /> HR, LEWIS AD ~ARTtN~ ~R, ADDRESSED THE COUNCIL AND REQUESTED THA~ AN ORDINANCE <br />BE ADOPTED TO ALLOW THE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH TO HOLD NOT EXCEEDING APPROXIMATELY <br /> <br />17,37 ACRES OF LAND IN THE CITY.
