HAGGERTY~ MR. MOUNT~ MR, PONTON~ MR, RENNOLDS AND MR, SCRIBNER, ABSENT: NONE. <br /> THE MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF OCTOBER 4~ 1965 WERE READ AND APPROVED. <br /> <br /> Mr. ROBERT MUSSELMAN ADDRESSED THE COUNCIL AND REQUESTED RELIEF FrOm THE SALES <br /> <br />AND USE TAX ON COIN OPERATED LAUNDRIES. THIS MATTER WAS REFERRED TO THE FINANCE <br /> <br />COMMITTEE FOR RECOMMENDATION, <br /> <br /> A COMMUNICATION WAS PRESENTED FROM THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE REQUESTING. THAT <br />CONSIDERATION BE GIVEN TO PROVIDING AN EXIT FROM THE REAR OF MCINTtRE PARK ON TO GROVE <br />ROAD, THIS REQUEST WAS REFERRED TO THE STREET COMMITTEE FOR RECOMMENDATION, <br /> <br /> A COMMUNICATION WAS PRESENTED FROM THE JUNIOR CHAMBER OF COMMERCE REQUESTING PERMISSION <br />TO USE A SOUND TRUCK ON ELECTION DAY~ AVOIDING RESIDENTIAL AREAS WHEN AT ALL POSSIBLE, ON <br />MOTION BY HR, HAGGERTY~ SECONDED BY MR, SCRIBNER~ THIS REQUEST WAS GRANTED FOR USE FROM <br />9:00 A. M. UNTIL THE POLLS CLOSE. <br /> <br /> COMMUNICATIONS WERE RECEIVED FROM THE BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL WOMENtS CLUB AND THE <br />CIVIC LEAGUE ENDORSING THE FEASIBILITY STUDY REQUESTED BY THE GREATER CHARLOTTESVILLE <br />ASSOCIATION~ INC, <br /> <br /> THE CITY MANAGER ADVISED THE COUNCIL THAT THE F. A. A. HAS APPROVED A GRANT OF <br />~224~900,00 FOR ITS SHARE OF THE COST OF IMPROVEMENTS AT THE AIRPORT~ LENGTHENING AND <br />WIDENING THE RUNWAY AND A NEW LIGHTING SYSTEM. A MOTION BY MR. SCRIBNER~ SECONDED BY <br /> <br />MR. RENNOLDS~ THAT THE GRANT BE ACCEPTED AND THE JOINT AIRPORT COMMITTEE BE AUTHORIZED ~ <br />TO EMPLOY AN ENGINEER TO PREPARE THE PLANS~ PROVIDED THE ALBEMARLE COUNTY BOARD OF <br />SUPERVISORS CONCURS~ WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED. <br /> <br /> THE TREASURERtS LIST OF 1964 DELINQUENT AND ERRONEOUS TAXES IN THE AMOUNTS OF <br />~115,272.63 AND ~6~053,16 RESPECTIVELY WAS PRESENTED AND REFERRED TO A COMMITTEE <br />COMPOSED OF MR. HAGGERTY~ MR. RENNOLDS~ THE COMMISSIONER OF REVENUE AND THE DIRECTOR <br />OF ~INANCE. <br /> <br /> <br />
