A COMMUNICATION WAS PRESENTED FROM THE PLANNING COMMISSIO~ <br /> RECOMMENDING THAT THE REQUEST BE DENIED. ON MOTION BY MR. HAGGERTY~ SECONDED BY HR. <br /> RENNOLDS, THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED. <br /> <br /> A PUBLIC HEARING WAS ALSO HELD ON A REQUEST TO REZONE LOT 20~ HCKINNEY SUBDIVISION <br /> FROM R-3 RESIDENTIAL TO B-OFFICE SHOP. A COMMUNICATION WAS PRESENTED FROM THE PLANNING <br /> COMMISSION RE. COMMENDING THE~ CHANGE. AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND <br /> <br /> REENACTING THE DISTRICT MAP INCORPORATED IN. SECTION 4 OF ARTtCLE !i I OF APPENDIX I I <br /> OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, t965, BY THE REZONING OF ALL OF THAT <br /> PARCEL OF LAND FRONTIN:G 45 FEET ON THE WEST SIDE OF 14TH STREET KNOWN AS LOT 20 <br /> <br /> MCKINNEY SUBDIVISION", WAS OFFERED BY HR. RENNOLDS~ SECONDED BY HR. SCRIBNER, AND <br /> CARRIED OVER TO THE NEXT MEETING FOR CONSIDERATION. <br /> <br /> MR. d. H. ROBERTS ADDRESSED THE COUNCIL AND REQUESTED AN INFORMAL MEETING WITH <br /> <br /> THE MERCHANTS~ THE CiTY HANAGER AND FINANCE COMMITTEE PRIOR TO THE PUBLIC HEARING <br /> <br /> ON THE BUDGET. THE HAYOR ADVISED HR. F~OBERTS THAT THE PURPOSE OF THE PUBLIC HEARING <br /> WAS TO HEAR ALL INTERESTED PERSONS AND THE COUNCIL WILL NOT PARTICIPATE IN AN INFORMAL <br /> <br /> HEAR I NC. <br /> <br /> THE CITY AND SCHOOL BUDGETS FOR THE FISCAL YEAR COMMENCING JULY 1~ 1966 WERE <br /> PRESENTED AND CONSIDERED. A MOTION BY MR. SCRIBNER~ SECONDED BY MR. RENNOLDS THAT A <br /> SYNOPSIS OF THESE BUDGETS BE PUBLISHED AS REQUIRED BY SECTION 19 OF THE CITY CHARTER <br /> AND THAT HONDAY~ APRIL 11~ :1966 AT 7:30 P. H. AT THE CITY COURT HOUSE BE SET AS THE <br /> TIME AND PLACE FOR THE PUBLIC HEARING ON SAID BUDGETS, WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED. <br /> <br /> A REQUEST FOR REZONING AT THE CORNER OF 8TH AND gARISH STREETS WAS REFERRED TO <br /> <br /> THE PLANNING COMMISSION FOR RECOMMENDATION. <br /> <br /> ON MOTION BY HR. SCRIBNER, SECONDED BY MR. PONTON~ THE CHARLOTTESVILLE-ALBEI~IARLE <br /> MEDI gAL ASSISTANTS ASSOCI AT! ON ~/AS DECLARED A NON-PROFLT ORGANI ZATI ON UNDER SECTI ON 91E <br /> OF THE LICENSE TAX ORDINANCE, AND EXE~IPTED FROM COLLECTING THE SALES TAX ON A RUMMAGE <br /> SALE UNDER SECTION 4(0) OF THE SALES TAX ORDINANCE. <br /> <br /> A COMMUNICATION WAS PRESENTED FROM THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE IN REGARDS TO A <br /> VOCATIONAL AND TECHNICAL COLLEGE IN THIS COMMUNITY. ON MOTION BY HR. HAGGERTY, <br /> SECONDED BY MR. SCRIBNER~ THE COUNCIL UNANIMOUSLY ENDORSED THE NEED FOR SUCH A <br /> FACILITY IN THIS AREA~ AND URGES THE STATE BOARD OF TECHNICAL EDUCATION TO MAKE THE <br /> NECESSARY PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION TOV/ARDS THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A TECHNICAL COLLEGE. <br /> <br /> ON MOTION BY HR. PONTON, SECONDED BY MR. RENNOLDS, THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION WAS <br /> UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED: <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, IT IS NECESSARY FOR THE CiTY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE TO CONSTRUCT AND <br />OPERATE A PUBLIC WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM ON THE SOUTH FORK OF THE RI VANNA RI VER~ AND <br /> <br /> WHEREAS~ IN THE OPERATION OF THE RESERVOIR~ FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE CITIZENS <br /> <br />OF THIS COMMUNITY THE CiTY ~/ILL PERMIT CONTROLLED BOATING, FISHING AND PICNICING IN <br />ESTABLISHED PARK AREAS AND OTHER RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES SUBJECT TO THE STATE HEALTH <br />DEPARTMENT REGULATIONS~ AND <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, THE CITY WILL CONFINE THESE RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES TO CERTAIN <br /> <br />AREAS OF THE RESERvoIR AND IT IS NECESSARY FOR T'HE CITY TO ACQUIRE PROPERTY FOR SUCH <br />PURPOSES, AND <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, IN FURTHERANCE OF THESE REQUIREMENTS THE CITY MUST OBTAIN 33.32 <br /> <br /> <br />
