ROBERTS NOT BE HEARD, WAS UNANIMOUS- <br /> <br /> LY ADOPTED. <br /> <br /> THE FOLLOWING REZONING REQUESTS WERE PRESENTED AND REFERRED TO THE PLANNING <br /> <br />COMMISSION FOR RECOMMENDATION: (1) REZONE GREEN VALLEYS SUBDIVISION FROM R-2 <br />RESIDENTIAL TO R'I RESIDENTIAL; (2) REZONE A LOT'~ AT THE CORNER OF 8TH AND PAGE STREET~ <br />FROM R-3 MULTIPLE DWELLING TO B-1 BUSINESS; (3) REZONE CERTAIN PROPERTY ON THE EASTERN <br />SIDE OF EMMET STREET FROM B-OFFICE SHOP TO B-1 BUSINESS; AND (4) REZONE A PARCEL OF <br />LAND ON KENT TERRACE FROM R-2 RESIDENTIAL TO R-3 MULTIPLE DWELLING° <br /> <br /> A REPORT WAS PRESENTED FROM THE PLANNING COMMISSION CONCERNING THE REZONING OF T~TE <br /> <br />900 BLOCK OF EAST JEFFERSON STREET, AND ADVI-SING THE COUNCIL THAT THE PLANNING COMMISSION- <br />ON ITS OWN MOTION WAS GOING TO HOLD A PUBLIC HEARING ON FOUR (~r) LOTS 'WHICH HAD BEEN <br />OMITTED FROM THE ORIGINAL REZONING REQUEST. <br /> <br /> ON MOTION BY MPG HAGGERTY, SECONDED BY MR. SCRIBNER~ THE COMMITTEE REPORT RE- <br /> <br />COMMENDING PUBLICATION OF SUPPLEMENTS TO THE CITY CODE, WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED. <br /> <br /> AFTER A DISCUSSION CONCERNING WHETHER POOLROOMS OR BILLIARDS SALOONS WHICH SERVE <br /> <br />MINORS SHOULD BE PERMITTED TO SELL ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES THE COUNCIL INSTRUCTED THE CITY <br />ATTORNEY TO PREPARE AN AMENDMENT TO THE ORDINANCE TO PREVENT TNE SELLING OF ALCOHOLIC <br />BEVERAGES IN POOLROOMS OR BILLIARD SALOONS THAT ALLOW MINORS TO PLAY. AN ORDINANCE <br />ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE AHENDING AND REENACTING SECTION 19-58 ENTITLED 'POOLROOMS, <br /> <br />BOWLING ALLEYS) SHOOTING GALLERIES~ ETC. - MINORS' OF CHAPTER 19 OF THE CODE OF THE <br /> <br />CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1965", WAS OFFERED BY MR. HAGGERTY, SECONDED BY MR. SCRIBNER, <br /> <br />AND CARRIED OVER TO THE NEXT MEETING FOR CONSIDERATION. <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND REENACTING CHAPTER 14 OF THE <br /> <br />CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1965, BY THE ADDITION THERETO OF A NEW SECTION <br /> <br />NUMBERED 14-2.2 ENTITLED 'SAME - ORNAMENTAL GAS LIGHTS' ", WHICH WAS OFFERED AT THE <br /> <br />ME£TING OF THE CeUNCtL ON MAY 2, 1966, WAS ADOPTED BY THE FOLLOWING RECORDED VOTE: <br /> <br />AYES: MR. HAGGERTY~ MR. MOUNT AND MR. SCRIBNER. NOES: NONE. <br /> <br /> THE CITY MANAGER PRESENTED TO COUNCIL AND RECOMMENDED APPROVAL OF A CAPITAL <br /> <br />iMPROVEMENT BUDGET. PRIOR TO THE COUNCIL'S ACCEPTANCE OF THE BUDGET, THE MAYOR <br />STATED THAT HE WANTED IT CLEARLY UNDERSTOOD THAT SINCE JUDGE COLES AND HIS COMMITTEE <br /> <br />WERE STILL STUDYING THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT BUDGET THAT THE PLACING OF THE .JAIL IN <br /> <br />THE YEAR 1968-69 WAS NOT A FIXED DATE. A MOTION BY MR. SCRIBNER~ SECONDED BY <br /> <br />~JAGGERTY~ AND UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED, THE CAPITAL iMPROVEMENT BUDGET WAS CARRIED OVER <br /> <br />TO THE NEXT MEETING FOR CONSIDERATION. <br /> <br /> MR. Co ARMOND PAXSON REPORTED THAT AFTER SEVERAL YEARS OF EFFORT HIS COMMITTEE <br /> <br />HAD BEEN ABLE TO OBTAIN A PROPOSED CITY CREST AND EXPLAINED THE HERALDIC TERMS TO <br /> <br />THE COUNCIL. ON MOTION BY MR. SCRIBNER, SECONDED BY MR. HAGGERTY~ AND UNANIMOUSLY <br /> <br />ADOPTED~ COUNCIL EXPRESSED ITS APPRECIATION TO MR. PAXSON AND HIS COMMITTEE AND <br /> <br />RECEIVED THE CREST FOR FURTHER STUDY. <br /> <br /> ON MOTION BY MR. SCRIBNER~ SECONDED BY MR.
