SPURGE©N PASCHALL) PASTOR OF BELMONT BAPTIST CHURCH~ GAVE THE INVOCATION. <br /> ,THE MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 26~ 1966 WERE READ AND APPROVED. <br /> <br /> REQUESTS FOR EXEMPTION FROM THE LICENSE TAX ORDINANCE WERE PRESENTED FROM THE <br /> NEIGHBORtS CLUB AND Boxwood GARDEN CLUB AND REFERRED TO THE CITY ATTORNEY FOR <br /> RECOMMENDATION. <br /> <br /> THE CITY MANAGER PRESENTED A PROPOSED AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE C ~ 0 RAILWAY COMPANY <br />AND THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE FOR THE RELOCATION AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE CARLTON ROAD <br />GRADE CROSSING~ AND RECOMMENDED THAT HE BE AUTHORIZED TO EXECUTE SAID AGREEMENT ON <br />BEHALF OF THE CITY. <br /> <br /> ON MOTION BY MR. HAGGERTY~ SECONDED BY MR. JOHNSON~ THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION WAS <br /> UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS~ THE EXTENSION OF MEADE AVENUE TO CARLTON AVENUE REQUIRES <br /> <br />THAT THE PRESENT GRADE CROSSING ON CARLTON ROAD BE PARTIALLY RELOCATED AND <br /> <br /> IMPROVED~ AND THE RELOCATION OF THE SIGNAL LIGHTS~ AND <br /> <br /> WHEREAS~ THE C ~ 0 RAILWAY COMPANY HAS AGREED WITH THIS IMPROVEMENT <br /> <br /> AND HAS PREPARED AN AGREEMENT TO ENABLE THIS IMPROVEMENT AT THE CITYtS EXPENSE~ <br /> <br />AND HAS AGREED TO GRANT BY QUIT CLAIM D~ED AN EASEMENT FOR THE IMPROVED CROSSING <br /> <br /> NOW~ THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THEilCITY OF CHARLOTTES- <br />VILLE THAT THE CITY MANAGER BE AND HE IS HEREBY AUTHORIZED TO EXECUTE ON BEHALF <br />OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE AN AGREEMENT DATED OCTOBER 3~ 1966 FOR THE <br />LOCATION~ IMPROVEMENT~ ETC.~ OF THE CARLTON ROAD GRADE CROSSING AS IS SHOWN ON <br /> <br />C & O DRAWING NO. 26501~ AND AS IS SET FORTH IN THE OCTOBER 3~ 1966 AGREEMENT~ AND <br /> <br /> BE IT PdR~HER RESOLVED THAT THE CITY HEREBY VACATES~ CLOSES~ AND ABANDONS <br />THE PORTION OF THE EXISTING CARLTON ROAD CROSSING WHICH 'IS LOCATED ON THE C & 0 <br />RAILWAY COMPANYIS PROPERTY EFFECTIVE UPON THE EXECUTION OF THE AFOREMENTIONED <br />AGREEMENT BY THE C ~ 0 RAILWAY COMPANY AND THE CITY MANAGER~ WITH THE PROVISO <br /> <br />THAT THE EASEMENT FOR AN EXISTING EIGHT INCH SANITARY SEWER LINE~ WHICH IS LOCATED <br /> <br /> ON THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF THE EXISTING CARLTON ROAD ON THE RAILWAY EIGHT OF WAY <br /> <br /> IS TO BE RETAINED BY THE CITY. <br /> <br /> A COMMUNICATION WAS PRESENTED FROM THE POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE OF THE CHAMBER <br /> OF COMMERCE REQUESTING ASSISTANCE IN ORGANIZING STUDENT GOVERNMENT WEEK~ DECEMBER 5 - <br /> <br />9. THE MAYOR ANNOUNCED THE APPO.INTMENT OF MR. VOGT AND MR. HAGGERTY AS A COMMITTEE TO <br /> <br /> ENCOURAGE THE ORGANIiZATION OF A CITY YOUTH COUNCIL AND REQUESTED THIS COMMITTEE TO <br /> <br /> WORK WITH THE CHAMBER, OF COMMERCE COMMITTEE ON THIS PROJECT. <br /> <br /> THE MAyoR ALSO ANNOUNCED THE APPOINTMENT OF MR. JOHNSON AND MR. MOUNT AS A <br /> <br /> COMMITTEE TO ORGANIZE MONTHLY NEIGHBORHOOD FORUMS. <br /> <br /> ON NOTION BY MR. MOUNT~ SECONDED BY MR. JOHNSON THE MAYOR WAS AUTHORIZED TO <br /> <br /> EXECUTE EXCHANGE DEED WITH MR. AND MRS. PAUL SAUNIER~ JR. FOR PROPERTY AT RUGBY ROAD <br /> AND GREENLEAF LANE TO PERMIT IMPROVEMENTS AT THIS INTERSECTION. <br /> <br /> <br />
