REQUESTING THAT SIDEWALKS BE <br />CONSTRUCTED ALONG CHERRY AND ELLIOTT AVENUES FROM 9TH TOAVON STREETs AND ALSO <br />REQUESTING THAT THE SPEED LIMIT ON CHERRY AVENUEs BETWEEN THE BLINKER LIGHTS BE <br />REDUCED TO t5 M. P. H.~ AND THAT 9TH STREET BE GRADED TO PERMIT TRAFFIC LEAVING <br />THE BACK ENTRANCE OF THE SCHOOL A CLEAR VIEW OF TRAFFIC APPROACHING FROM CHERRY <br />AVENUE, THIS ~ETITION WAS REFERRED TO THE STREET COMMITTEE FOR RECOMMENDATION. <br /> <br /> A COMHUNICATION WAS PRESENTED FROM OtNEILL CONSTRUCTION AND DEVELOPHENT <br /> <br />COMPANY STATING THAT THEY HAD RECENTLY CONCL~ED NEGOTIATIONS WHICH HAY RESULT <br />IN THE ERECTION OF A STATLER-HILTON MOTEL ON THE SOUTHEASTERN CORNER OF EMMET <br />STREET AND 250 BY-PASS. THE COMMUNICATION STATED THAT IN ORDER TO PERMIT THE <br />ORDERLY DEVELOPMENT OF THIS CORNERs IT WOULD BE NECESSARY TO EXCHANGE SOME LAND <br />WITH THE CITY AND WOULD BE NECESSARY TO REZONE THIS LAND THE SAME AS THE ADJOINING <br />PROPERTY ON EMMET STREET~ WHICH IS B-1. AFTER DISCUSSION BETWEEN COUNCILs THE <br />CITY ATTORNEY AND CITY MANAGERs DURING WHICH IT WAS POINTED OUT THAT COUNCIL LAST <br />YEAR HAD CONSIDERED REFERRING THIS WHOLE AREA TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION FOR RE- <br />ZONING RECOMMENDATIONSs MR. OtNEILL WAS INFORMED THAT COUNCIL WOULD LOOK AT THIS <br />LETTER ONLY AS CONSTITUTING A. REQUEST FOR REZONING OF A PORTION OF LAND BEHIND <br />EMMET STREET NORTH OF EARHART STREET AND THAT COUNCIL COULD NOT AND WOULD NOT <br />CONSIDER ANY EXCHANGE OF PROPERTY AS SET FORTH IN HIS LETTER. ON MOTION BY MR. <br />MOUNTs SECONDED BY MR. HAGGERTYs THE REZONING OF THIS PROPERTY WAS REFERRED TO THE <br />PLANNING COMMISSION FOR RECOMMENDATION. <br /> <br /> A PETITION WAS PRESENTED FROM YELLOW CAB AND TRANSIT COMPANY REQUESTING AN <br />INCREASE IN BUS FARES AND ALSO SOME ADJUSTMENTS IN THE BUS ROUTES, THIS REQUEST <br />WAS REFERRED TO A COMMITTEE COMPOSED OF MR, VOGTs MR, HAGGERTY AND MR, BOWEN <br />FOR RECOMMENDATION. <br /> <br /> ON MOTION BY MR, VOGT~ SECONDED BY MR, HAGGERTYs THE MAYOR WAS AUTHORIZED TO <br />EXECUTE DEED GRANTING A THIRTY FOOT (3OI)'EASEMENT AND RIGHT-OF-WAY ACROSS THE <br />NORTHERN END OF THE AIRPORT PROPERTY TO Wo H, DANCY~ JRos SUBJECT TO APPROVAL <br />BY THE F. A. A. <br /> <br /> THE VICE-MAYOR REPORTED THAT THE MAYOR HAD CONFERRED WITH DR. RUSHTON CONCERNING <br />THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A STUDY-TUTORIAL CENTER AT WESTMINISTER PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH AND <br />THAT DR. RUSHTON HAD RECOMMENDED APPROVAL OF THE PROJECT, ON MOTION BY MR. VOGT~ <br />SECONDED BY MR. MOUNT~ THE MAYOR WAS AUTHORIZED TO EXECUTE APPLICATION TO OEO <br />FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE PROPOSED CENTER. <br /> <br /> A COMMUNICATION WAS PRESENTED FROM FARMINGTON COUNTRY CLUB REQUESTING CITY <br /> WATER TO SERVE SEVENTY-THREE (73) LOT IN FARMINGTON WEST. AT THE REQUEST OF THE <br /> CITY MANAGER ACTION ON THIS REQUEST WAS DEEERRED UNTIL THE NEXT MEETING. <br /> <br /> A PROPOSED ORDINANCE WAS PRESENTED WHICH WOULD REQUIRE THE POSTING OF PROPERTY <br /> INVOLVED IN PETITIONS TO THE BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS.
