A COMMUNICATION WAS PRESENTED <br /> <br />FROM THE PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDING THAT THE REQUEST BE DENIED, NO ONE <br /> APPEARED ON BEHALF OF THE PETITION~ AND MR. CLAUDE WORLEY SPOKE IN OPPOSITION. <br /> ON MOTION BY MR, HAGGERTY~ SECONDED BY MR. RINEHART~ THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE <br /> PLANNING COMMISSION WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED. <br /> <br /> MR. GEORGE GILMER~ JR. ADDRESSED THE COUNCIL AND REQUESTED THAT CONSIDERATION <br />BE GIVEN TO A TOWN HOUSE ORDINANCE, THE CiTY MANAGER ADVISED HR. BOWEN~ CiTY MANAGER <br />CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE <br />CiTY HALL <br />CHARLOTTESVlLLE~ VIRGINIA 22901 <br /> <br />APRIL 23, 1968 <br /> <br />DEAR JIM: <br /> <br /> THIS REFERS TO OUR CONVERSATION REGARDING A PROPOSED LINE ACROSS <br />THE OLD FAIRGROUNDS PROPERTY NOW OWNED BY THE CITY, <br /> <br /> DUE TO THE REARRANGEMENTS OF THE HIGHWAYS AT THE INTERSECTION OF <br />ROUTE 29 AND 250 BY-PASS~ IT IS NECESSARY FOR US TO REMOVE OUR <br />DISTRIBUTION LINE NOW AT THAT LOCATION. <br /> <br /> As YOU KNOW~ WE HAVE A LOOP ALONG ROUTE 29 IN ORDER TO BE ABLE TO <br />FURNISH SERVICE FROM EITHER DIRECTION SHOULD EMERGENCIES ARISE. YOU <br />WILL REMEMBER THIS ALLOWED US TO RESTORE SERVICE ON BOTH SIDES OF THE <br />BY-PAss IN A VERY SHORT TIME SOME MONTHS AGO~ WHEN A TRUCK COLLISION <br />BURNED DOWN THE LINE. <br /> <br /> IN ORDER TO CONTINUE THIS SERVICE~ THE HOST PRACTICAL ROUTE APPEARS <br />TO BE AN EXTENSION FROM THE LINE NOW AT THE INTERSECTION OF RUGBY ROAD <br />AND THE 250 BY-PASS~ EXTENDING ACROSS THE PROPERTY~ EAST OF THE OLD <br />ROADWAY FOR APPROXIMATELY 700 FEET~ THEN CROSSING THE ROAD TO THE FRANK <br />OINEILL PROPERTY~ THENCE GENERALLY WESTERLY ALON~ HIS PROPERTY LINE TO <br /> <br /> <br />
