NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING A SPECIAL MEETING WILL BE HELD ON Tuesday, July 6, 2004 AT 6:00 p.m. IN THE Second Floor Conference Room. THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: Closed session as provided by Section 2.2-3712 of the Virginia Code BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR BY Jeanne Cox SECOND FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM - July 6, 2004 Council met in special session on this date with the following members present: Dr. Brown, Mr. Caravati, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Lynch, Mr. Schilling. On motion by Mr. Lynch, seconded by Mr. Caravati, Council voted (Ayes: Dr. Brown, Mr. Caravati, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Lynch, Mr. Schilling. Noes: None.) to meet in closed session for discussion and consideration of prospective candidates for appointment to City boards and commissions as provided by Section 2.1-371 i(A)(1) of the Virginia Code; for discussion and consideration of the acquisition of real properties located on High Street and adjacent to the proposed Juvenile Court parking garage for a public purpose, where discussion in an open meeting would adversely affect the negotiating strategy of the City, as authorized by Section 2.2-371 l(A)(3) of the Virginia Code; and for discussion and consideration of the disposition of publicly held real property located in Riverview park, where discussion in an open meeting would adversely affect the negotiating strategy of the City, as authorized by Section 2.2-3711 (A)(3) of the Virginia Code. On motion by Mr. Schilling, seconded by Mr. Caravati, Council certified by the following vote (Ayes: Dr. Brown, Mr. Caravati, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Lynch, Mr. Schilling. Noes: None) that to the best of each Council Member's knowledge, only public business matters lawfully exempted from the open meeting requirements of the Virginia Freedom of Information Act and identified in the motion convening the closed session were heard, discussed or considered in the closed session. COUNCIL CHAMBER - July 6, 2004 Council met in regular session on this date with the following members present: Dr. Brown, Mr. Caravati, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Lynch, Mr. Schilling. Dr. Brown announced that the ordinance authorizing the sale of right of way at Monticello and Druid has been deferred, and a request by the Council Elections Study Task Force to extend their reporting deadline has been added to the agenda. AWARDS/RECOGNITIONS: CHS SOCCER TEAM; OUTGOING SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER Dr. Brown read a proclamation recognizing the Charlottesville High School Soccer team for becoming State champions. Dr. Brown read a proclamation recognizing outgoing School Board member Linda Bowen.
