10

OTHER BUSINESS

Mr. O'Connell said that Community Development Block Grants are proposed to
be cut, and he suggested that the City take action in the near future by sending a letter to
our Congressmen and Senators.

Mr. Caravati suggested that our State representatives we written to as well as
these funds help the State's poorest communities.

Mr. O'Connell asked Council for their thoughts about the structure for the March
12 community budget forum as well as for budget work sessions and for any information
needed that will require staff work. He said that traditionally as staff get questions from
Councilors regarding the budget, these and their answers are given to all Councilors, and
he proposed this be done again.

Mr. Lynch said the format proposed is good overall. Regarding the School
budget, he said that he believes we should expect a draft budget from them by March 3,
and while he thinks it is important to get a final budget number from them, he does not
think we should hold them to a final budget until we wrap up our budget.

Mr. Caravati said he thinks we need a final School budget before Council's
second meeting in March. He expressed concern about getting it too late.

Dr. Brown said he has no problem with getting the budget late as long as they let
us know the final budget number.

The meeting was adjourned.

President Clerk
