Absent: Ms. Hamilton. <br /> <br /> The $15,000 appropriation transferring funds to the Schools for an ESL teacher <br />was denied by the following vote. Ayes: Dr. Brown and Mr. Lynch. Noes: Mr. Caravati <br />and Mr. Schilling. Absent: Ms. Hamilton. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: $8,000 - Recovery of Funds (John Street Housing Loan) <br /> (2nd reading) <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, that <br />the sum of $8,000.00, received from the proceeds of the sale of 1217 John Street to <br />satisfy a City lien on the property, is hereby appropriated to the Housing Initiatives <br />account (26-020-051528-50111) from account (26-020-051528-46299) in the Capital <br />Improvement Fund. <br /> <br />b. APPROPRIATION: $210,000 - Interfund Transfer to Golf Fund (2nd reading) <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Meadowcreek Golf Course is currently in need of <br />improvements and proposes to borrow $210,000 from existing City funds to be <br />used for the purchase of new electric golf carts ($130,000 from the Equipment <br />Replacement Fund) and the repaving of golf cart paths ($80,000 from the General <br />Fund Unappropriated Fund Balance); and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the loan would be paid back to the Equipment Replacement <br />Fund and General Fund over a 4-year period at borrowing rate of 4% from <br />revenues generated from golf course activities. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia, that $130,000 is hereby appropriated from the <br />Equipment Replacement Fund to the Golf Fund, account 9-192-72072-55104, and <br />$80,000 from the General Fund to the Golf Fund, account 9-192-72072-55107, <br />for a total of $210,000. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: $16,000 - Grant for Less-Than-Lethal Training/Equipment <br /> for Police (2nd reading) <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Charlottesville has received a less-than-lethal <br />training and equipment grant from the Charlottesville Police Foundation in the <br />amount of $16,000. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia, that the sum of $16,000 received as a grant from the <br />Charlottesville Police Foundation is hereby appropriated to account 11-270- <br />041195-50111 in the Grants Fund. This appropriation is conditioned upon <br />receipt of $16,000 from the Charlottesville Police Foundation. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: $78,969.72 - State Grant to Fire Department for Training/ <br /> Equipment (2nd reading) <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Virginia Department of Fire Programs has awarded a <br />grant to the City of Charlottesville specifically for fire service applications; now, <br />therefore <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, <br />Virginia, that a total of $78,969.72, received from the Virginia Department of Fire <br />Programs, is hereby <br />appropriated to 11-260-042020-50111 in the grants fund for the purpose of <br />funding additional training and equipment for the City of Charlottesville' s Fire <br />Department. <br /> <br /> <br />
