the County, and then fund 50% of that amount this year, with the total to be phased in <br />over a two year period, approximately $39,150. <br /> <br />Charlottesville Transit Service <br /> <br /> Regarding funding for Charlottesville Transit Service, Mr. O'Connell noted that <br />the County has reduced the request for funding by half. He said the night service has <br />been funded through a grant which is running out. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lynch said the larger question is whether we are satisfied with the level of <br />transit service or do we want to expand it. He said this is a community priority. <br /> <br />Organizational Memberships <br /> <br /> Ms. Hamilton said she would like to know more about Virginia First Cities. She <br />said she would also like to explore possible membership in the Thomas Jefferson Soil and <br />Water Conservancy. <br /> <br />Mr. O'Connell said this is more of a rural area service. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lynch said he does not see the benefit of being in the Thomas Jefferson <br />Regional Economic Development Partnership. <br /> <br /> Mr. O'Connell suggested that Council consider cutting funding for TJREDP and <br />asking the County to match this amount. <br /> <br />Capital Budget <br /> <br /> Ms. Hamilton said she would like to discuss funding for fire stations, roof <br />replacement, Mclntire Park, housing, and undergrounding utilities. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lynch asked if getting Jefferson School done by 2007 is realistic, and Ms. <br />Small-Toney said she thinks it is. <br /> <br /> Mr. O'Connell said that we need to rethink where our fire stations are if we <br />continue City fire services.
