12 <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Mr. Peter Kleeman, 407 Hedge Street, said he has pedestrian and bike issues. He <br />said the pedestrian and bike access were diminished after Market Street was repaved. He <br />said the paving is 1 to 2 inches deep in some places and there are several dangerous areas, <br />especially by the library and on 3rd Street, N.W. He said some crosswalks were not <br />remarked and attention to detail is needed. <br /> <br />APPOINTMENTS: BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Lynch, seconded by Ms. Hamilton, Ms. Jacqueline Dugery and <br />Mr. David Simmons were reappointed to two-year terms on the Community <br />Development Block Grant Task Force by the following vote. Ayes: Dr. Brown, Mr. <br />Caravati, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Lynch, Mr. Schilling. Noes: None. These terms will expire <br />on May 30, 2007. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Lynch, seconded by Ms. Hamilton, Ms. Theresa L. Deese and <br />Ms. Carol F. Clarke were appointed to the Housing Policy Task Force by the following <br />vote. Ayes: Dr. Brown, Mr. Caravati, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Lynch, Mr. Schilling. Ayes: Dr. Brown, Mr. <br />Caravati, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Lynch, Mr. Schilling. Noes: None. These terms will expire <br />on June 30, 2008. <br /> <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br /> <br /> Mr. Schilling said that for the benefit of the public he would like to point out that <br />the Chamber of Commerce has approved a resolution endorsing the direct election of the <br />Mayor, a ward or mixed ward system, and non-partisan elections. He said that it does not <br />appear that Council will be taking action on this.
