381 <br />having a permanent Superintendent in place, but she said she thinks a good foundation <br />can be provided. <br />Ms. Peggy Van Yahres, School Board member, said that this will be the fourth <br />Strategic Plan the Schools have had. She said the current plan is five years old. She said <br />the plan will be meshed into the system and it will be a living document. <br />Ms. Gronlund stressed that the Plan will be done from input from the Schools and <br />community. <br />Dr. Brown asked about a timeline for the phases, and Ms. Smith said that Phase - <br />will start right away; Phase 2 in September; Phase 3 in September/October, and Phase 4, <br />development of a preliminary Plan, in October. <br />Mr. Lynch suggested that a summary of the proposal be made available. <br />Regarding community participation, he asked if there is anything the City can do, or the <br />Martha Luther King, Jr. Celebration committee can do, to build on the forums and take <br />the issue to individual communities. <br />Dr. Alvin Edwards, School Board member, said that tentative dates have been set <br />to meet with Friendship Court and other neighborhoods. <br />Mr. Lynch said the City can help publicize the forums. He said he thinks it would <br />be helpful to have some meetings before the start of the school year. <br />Dr. Edwards said he believes they have some meetings set in July. <br />Mr. Louis Bograd, School Board member, said that one deliverable the <br />consultants were asked for early is a discussion guide, or things they want to hear from <br />the public, so these can be asked at meetings. <br />The meeting was adjourned. <br />President <br />Clerk <br />381 <br />
