485 <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Mr. Jeffrey Rossman said he regrets the fireworks earlier in the meeting. He said <br />Councilors should respect the Mayor's gavel. He said it is important that we have a <br />system of the rule of law and that it be followed. Responding to comments made by Ms. <br />Hamilton, he said the anxiety he saw today was from City democratic leaders who were <br />rallying their troops to come to the meeting tonight. He said that was a huge political <br />error. He said 80% of Council oppose the vote approved by 74%. He said it did not look <br />good to send the letter to the Justice Department the day of the public hearing. He said if <br />Council waits until January 2007 to request the Charter amendment there will only be <br />seven months before the School Board election. He said overwhelming support has been <br />expressed for electing School Board members by ward. <br /> <br /> Ms. Tatiana Patton, representing the Rivanna Conservation Society, expressed <br />support for the storm water ordinance. She said she would like to see a little more <br />cooperation with the Soil and Water Conservation District. She said Charlottesville can <br />have a place at the table and the Conservation District could use Charlottesville's voice. <br /> <br />The meeting was adjourned. <br /> <br />President Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
