DAVIS, THIS R£CUMMENDATION WAS UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED. <br />THE STREET COMMITTEE RECOMMENDED THAT THE 228 FEET OF NORTH AVENUE, WHICH <br />HAS BEEN COMPLETED, BE ACCEPTED INTO THE CITY STREET SYSTEM. ON MOTION BY <br />128' N'0kTH AVENUE ACCEPTED <br />INTO CITY STREET SYSTE,•d. MR. DAVIS, SECONDED BY MR. FORBES, THIS RECOtIMENDATION WAS UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED. <br />A COMMUNICATION WAS RECEIVED FROM MR. G. STUART HAMM, JR. REQUESTING THAT <br />THE SALARY OF THE CIVIL AND POLICE JUSTICE BE 114CREASED EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 1954. <br />REQUEST FOR INCREASE <br />IN CIVIL 6 POLICE JUSTICE A MOTION WAS MADE BY MR. FORBES, SECONDED BY MR. DAVIS, THAT THE MAYOR APPOINT A <br />LALARY REFERRED TO <br />COMMITTEE COMMITTEE TO STUDY MR. HAMM'S REQUEST, AND REPORT TO THE COUNCIL. THE MAYOR <br />APPOINTED MR. FORBES, MR. WEINBERG AND MR. BOWEN TO SERVE ON THIS COMt!ITTEE, <br />THE BUDGETS FOR THE CITY - STATE OFFICES FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR 1954 WERE <br />CITY-STATE BUDGETS PRESENTED. A MOOT1014 WAS ?'ADE UY MR. TEBELL, SECONDED BY MR. DAVIS AUD UNANIMOUSLY <br />PRESENTED AND APPROVED <br />ADOPTED THAT THESE BUDGETS BE APPROVED, AND THAT THE CITY TREASURER'S SALARY BE <br />RAISED FROM $09500.00 TO $6,800.00 PER YEAR. <br />COMMUNICATIONS WERE RECEIVED FROM MR. FRANK SHIFLETT AND MSR. ALBERT K. SMITH <br />RLWUEST F:.R REFUND REQUESTING REFUND OF ERRONEOUS TAXES IH THE AMOUNT OF $5.88 AND $25.08 RESPECTIVELY. <br />CN TAXES <br />ON MOTION BY MR. TEBELL* SECONDED 8Y MR. FORBES, THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION WAS <br />UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED: <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE <br />THAT $30.96 BE AND THE SAME IS HEREBY APPROPRIATED Ili ACCORDANCE <br />RESOLUTION APPROP. <br />P.EF'%ND TAXES WITH THE FOREGOING REQUEST. <br />THE -REQUEST OF MR. THE CITY MANAGER AND THE CHIEF OF POLICE ADVISED THE COUNCIL THAT <br />MATTER RE: C OF C. <br />OVER -TIME PARKERS THEY DID NOT THINK IT ADVISABLE TJ RELAX THE PARKING REGULATIONS AT THIS TIME. <br />REQUEST DENIED <br />THEV STATED THAT THE STRICT ENFCRCEIIENT OF THE PARKING ?tETER vRD1WANCE HAD <br />RESULTED IN A ?IUCH BETTER TURN OVER iN AVAILABLE PARKING SPACES ;;ND FUR THAT <br />REASON WERE OPPOSED TO THIS REQUEST. A MOTION BY MR. FoRBES, SECONDED BY <br />MR.
