X54 <br />A COMMUNICATION WAS PRESENTED FROM THE PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDING <br />PLANNING COMMISSION THE APPROVAL OF AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "OFF-STREET PARKING REQUIREMENTS", AND <br />APPROVAL OF ORDINANCES <br />ALSO THE APPROVAL OF AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN CONTROL", <br />A MOTION BY MR. MICHIE, SECONDED 8Y MR, FORGES, THAT THE MAYOR SET A DATE <br />FOR A PUBLIC HEARING OF THESE ORDINANCES WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED. <br />THE CITY MANAGER PRESENTED THE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENTS DETAILED PLANS <br />AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR FIXING HARMON AVENUE AT THE ESTIMATED COST OF <br />MATTER RE: HARMON AVE. $26,537.14. HE STATED THAT THE RESIDENTS HAD AGREED TO PAY $1,850.00 AND THE <br />ESTIMATE OF COST <br />I.INIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA $3,600.00, AND RECOMMENDED THAT THE CITY FIX THIS STREET <br />AND ACCEPT IT INTO THE C{TY STREET SYSTEM FOR MAINTENANCE. A MOTION BY MR. MICHIE, <br />SECONDED BY MR. FORGES, THAT THESE PLANS BE APPROVED AND THIS WORK BE STARTED AS <br />SOON AS WATER DAMAGE RELEASES ARE SECURED WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED. <br />THE CITY MANAGER ADVISED THE COUNCIL THAT HE HAD CONFERRED WITH THE OWNERS <br />OF THE ESSO SERVICE STATION ON IVY ROAD, JUST WEST OF EMMETT STREET, AND THAT <br />MATTER RE: LOWERING THESE PEOPLE WERE WILL{NG TO HAVE THE GRADE OF IVY Roao LOWERED IN FRONT OF <br />GRADE OF IVY ROAD <br />JUST WEST OF EMMETT ST. THEIR PROPERTY, SINCE THEY PLAN IMMEDIATELY TO REBUILD THEIR STATION. HE ALSO <br />STATED THAT THE OWNERS OF THE PROPERTY WEST OF THE SERVICE STATION WERE WILLING <br />TO HAVE THE STREET LOWERED. HE STATED THAT THE COST OF THIS WORK WOULD BE <br />APPROXIMATELY $16,000.00 AND RECOMMENDED THAT IT BE DONE TO RELIEVE THE BAD TRAFFIC <br />CONDITION CAUSED BY THE HUMP IN THE STREET. A MOTION BY MR. MICHIE, SECONDED BY <br />MR. FORGES, THAT THIS RECOMMENDATION BE APPROVED WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED. <br />MR. DAVIT SUGGESTED THAT AN INVESTIGATION BE MADE TO DETERMINE IF IT WAS POSSIBLE <br />TO HAVE THE SERVICE STATION SET BACK TEN FEET SO AS TO ALLOW FOR FUTURE WIDENING <br />AT THIS POINT. <br />AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND REENACTING SECTION 35A(B) <br />of CHAPTER 21 OF THE CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY CODE OF 1945 RELATING TO PLUMBING <br />ORDINANCE ADOPTED RE: PERMITS" WAS OFFERED BY MR. FORGES, SECONDED BY I"IR. DAVIT AND UPON THE RULES <br />CH. 21, SEC. 35a(B) <br />BEING SUSPENDED BY UNANIMOUS VOTE WAS ADOPTED BY THE FOLLOWING RECORDED VOTE: <br />AYES: MR. DAVIT, P1R. FORGES, MR. MICHIE AND MR. WEINBERG• NOES: NONE. <br />AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND REENACTING SECTION 37 OF <br />CHAPTER 21 OF THE CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY CODE OF 1945 RELATING TO CHARGES FOR <br />ORDINANCE ADUpTED RE: <br />CH. 21, SEC. 37 SEWER CONNECTIONS" WAS OFFERED BY MR. FORGES, SECONDED BY MR. DAVIT, AND UPON <br />THE RULES BEING SUSPENDED BY UNANIMOUS VOTE WAS ADOPTED BY THE FOLLOWING RECORDED <br />VOTE: AYES: MR. DAVIS, MR. FORGES, MR. MICHIE AND MR. WEINBERG. NOES: NONE. <br />A COMMUNICATION REQUESTING THAT CRESTMONT AVENUE BE ACCEPTED INTO THE CITY <br />REQUEST RE: CRESTMONT AVE. <br />REFERRED TO ST. COMM. STREET SYSTEM FOR MAINTENANCE WAS REFERRED TO THE STREET COMMITTEE FOR INVESTIGATION <br />AND REPORT. <br />THE STREET COMMITTEE REPORTED THAT COLEMAN STREET HAD BEEN GRADED AND STONED <br />COLEMAN STREET ACCEPTED TO CITY SPECIFICATIONS AND RECOMMENDED THAT THIS STREET BE ACCEPTED INTO THE CITY <br />INTO CITY STREET SYSTEM <br />STREET SYSTEM FOR MAINTENANCE. ON MOTION BY MR. DAVIS, SECONDED BY MR. MICHIE, THE <br />FOREGOING RECOMMENDATION WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED. <br />A COMMUNICATION FROM MR. R. A. SAUNDERS REQUESTING THAT MARTIN STREET BE <br />REQUEST RE: MARTIN STREET <br />REFERRED TO ST. COMM. ACCEPTED INTO THE CITY STREET SYSTEM FOR MAINTENANCE WAS REFERRED TO THE STREET <br />COMMITTEE FOR INVESTIGATION AND REPORT. <br />ON MOTION BY MR. DAVIS, SECONDED BY MR. FORGES, THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION WAS <br />OFFERED AND CARRIED OVER TO THE NEXT MEETING FOR CONSIDERATION: <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE <br />RESOLUTION APPROP• CARRIED THAT $2,967.13 BE ANO THE SAME IS HEREBY APPROPRIATED FOR THE CITY~S <br />OVER RE: UTILITIES IN RIVER <br />..
