FUND CARRIED OVER <br />HOUSING AUTHORITY MEMBER <br />APPOINTED. <br />WELFARE REPORT PRESENTED <br />CERTIFICATE RE: <br />ELECTION OF <br />COUNCILMAN <br />THE CITY MANAGER ADVISED THE COUNCIL THAT A SIDEWALK WAS BADLY NEEDED ON <br />.JEFFERSON PARK AVENUE FROM MONROE LANE TO W. MAIN STREET, AND THAT THE DONALD L. <br />SELVAGE COMPANY WOULD PROBABLY ACCEPT THIS PROJECT ON THE SAME BASIS AS THE PRESENT <br />CONTRACT AND RECOMMENDED THAT THIS SIDEWALK BE INSTALLED. AFTER SOME DISCUSSION, <br />THIS MATTER WAS REFERRED TO THE STREET COMMITTEE FOR STUDY AND REPORT. <br />ON MOTION BY MR. HILL, SECONDED BY MR. MICHIE, THE CITY MANAGER WAS INSTRUCTED <br />TO SUBMIT TO THE COUNCIL PLANS FOR AN ANNUAL PROGRAM OF SIDEWALK CONSTRUCTION FOR <br />MAJOR STREETS BEGINNING WITH THE CONSTRUCTION OF A SIDEWALK ON THE NORTH SIDE OF <br />GRADY AVENUE THIS YEAR. <br />A COMMUNICATION WAS PRESENTED FROM BEULAH V. COSBY COMPLAINING ABOUT STORM WATER <br />ON 11TH STREET, N.W., AND REQUESTING THAT A STORM WATER PIPE 8E INSTALLED AT THIS <br />LOCATION. ON MOTION BY MR. DAM S, SECONDED BY MR. HILL, THIS MATTER WAS REFERRED <br />TO THE STREET COMMITTEE FOR DISPOSITION. <br />A COMMUNICATION WAS PRESENTED FROM .JUDGE R. WATSON SADLER POINTING OUT THE <br />NEEDS FOR A NEW CITY HALL, AND REQUESTING THAT THE MAYOR APPOINT A COMMITTEE TO <br />INVESTIGATE AND STUDY THE NEEDS IN THIS RESPECT. A MOTION BY MR. FORGES, SECONDED <br />BY MR. DAMS THAT THE MAYOR APPOINT A COMMITTEE AS REQUESTED BY .JUDGE SADLER, WAS <br />UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED. THE MAYOR STATED THAT HE WOULD ANNOUNCE HIS APPOINTMENTS TO <br />THIS COMMITTEE AT A LATER DATE. <br />ON MOTION BY MR. FORGES, SECONDED BY MR. MICHIE, THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION WAS <br />OFFERED AND CARRIED OVER TO THE NEXT MEETING FOR CONSIDERATION: <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OFCHARIOTTESVILIE <br />THAT $4,500.00 BE ANO THE SAME IS HEREBY APPROPRIATED FOR 1954 <br />INCREMENT TO THE GAS INSURANCE FUND. <br />THE MAYOR ANNOUNCED THE REAPPOINTMENT OF MR.E. R. SLAUGHTER TO THE HOUSING <br />AUTHORITY FOR A FOUR YEAR TERM EFFECTIVE .JULY 1, 1956. <br />THE WELFARE REPORT FOR THE MONTH OF MAY, 1956 was PRESENTED, AND ORDERED FILED <br />WITH THE MINUTES OF THIS MEETING. <br />THE FOLLOWING CERTIFICATE WAS PRESENTED AND ORDERED FiLEO WITH THE MINUTES OF <br />THIS MEETING: <br />VIRGINIA:- IN THE CLERK'S OFFICE OF THE CORPORATION COURT OF THE <br />CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, JUNE 14TH, 1956 <br />TO: J.
