204 <br />EXAMINATION, GRADING, LABELING, PASTEURIZATION, REGRADING, DISTRIBUTION, AND SALE <br />OF MILK AND MILK PRODUCTS; PROVIDING FOR THE PUBLISHING OF MILK GRADES, THE <br />CONSTRUCTION OF FUTURE DAIRIES AND MILK PLANTS, THE ENFORCEMENT OF THIS ORDINANCE, <br />AND THE FIXING OF PENALTIES," WHICH WAS OFFERED AT THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL, HELD <br />ON OCTOBER 1, 1956, WAS ADOPTED BY THE FOLLOWING RECORDED VOTE. AYES: MR. DAVIS, <br />MR. MICHIE AND MR. WEINBERG. NOES: NONE. <br />A MOTION BY MR. MICHIE, SECONDED BY MR. WEINBERG THAT THE MAYOR APPOINT A <br />OFFICERS --~ <br />COMMITTEE TO EXAMINE THE CITY-STATEf BUDGETS BEFORE BEING PRESENTED TO THE COMPENSATION <br />MATTER RE: CITY-STATE BOARD, AND THAT THE CITY-STATE OFFICERS BE REQUESTED IN THE FUTURE TO PRESENT THEIR <br />BUDGETS <br />BUDGETS TO THE COUNCIL AT LEAST FIFTEEN DAYS PREVIOUS TO THEIR SUBMISSION TO THE <br />COMPENSATION BOARD, WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED. THE MAYOR APPOINTED MR. MICHIE, MR. BOWEN <br />AND MR. WEINBERG TO THIS COMMITTEE. <br />THE WELFARE REPORT FOR THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER, 1956 WAS PRESENTED ANO ORDERED <br />WELFARE REPORT PRESENTED FILED WITH THE MINUTES OF THIS MEETING. <br />ON MOTION THE MEETING ADJOURNED. <br />__ ~ _-~t..~-~-._) <br />CLERK RESIDENT <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER _ NOVEMBER 5, 1956 <br />THE COUNCIL MET IN REGULAR SESSION ON THIS DATE WITH THE FOLLOWING MEMBERS <br />PRESENT: MR. COLEMAN, MR. DAVIS, MR. HILL, MR. MICHIE AND MR. WEINBERG. ABSENT: NONE. <br />THE MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF OCTOBER 17, 1956 WERE READ AND APPROVED. <br />MR. S. A. J6SSUP ADDRESSED THE COUNCIL AND STATED THAT HE PROPOSED TO CONSTRUCT <br />A PARKING GARAGE AT THE CORNER OF WARE AND GARRETT STREETS, WHICH WOULD PARK <br />MATTER RE: PARKING GARAGE <br />CDR. WARE AND GARRET STS. APPROXIMATELY FORTY AUTOMOBILES, TO BE USED BY HIS EMPLOYEES ONLY, AND REQUESTED <br />REQUEST DENIED. <br />THAT HE NOT BE REQUIRED TO COMPLY WITH THE TEN FOOT SETBACK ESTABLISHED ON WARE <br />STREET. THE COUNCIL LATER VISITED THE SIT£ AND DISCUSSED THIS MATTER WITH MR. aIESSUP, <br />AND ON MOTION BY MR. HILL, SECONDED BY MR. MICHIE, THIS REQUEST WAS UNANIMOUSLY DENIED. <br />MR. THOMPSON ADDRESSED THE COUNCIL ON BEHALF OF THE RESIDENTS OF VALLEY ROAD <br />EXTEN06D, AND PRESENTED A PETITION REQUESTING THAT VALLEY ROAD EXTENDED BE REPAIRED ANO <br />MATTER RE: VALLEY RD., <br />EXTENDED. THAT THE COUNCIL ENTER INTO NEGOTIATIONS WITH THE PROPERTY OWNERS TO SHARE IN THE COST <br />OF REPAIRING THIS STREET. MR. ADDINGTON, THE SUBDIVIDOR OF THIS SUBDIVISION, STATED <br />THAT THE FORMER CITY MANAGER HAD PROMISED TO ACCEPT THIS STREET INTO THE CITY STREET <br />SYSTEM. MR. BOWEN ADVISED THE COUNCIL THAT THIS SUBDIVISION HAD BEEN TURNED GOWN BY THE <br />PLANNING COMMISSION, AND THAT IT HAD BEEN INVESTIGATED AND TURNED DOWN BY FORMER <br />COUNCILS DUE TO THE CONDITION OF THE STREET AND THE NARROWNESS OF THE USABLE PART OF <br />THE RIGHT-OF-WAY WHERE IT ENTERED CHERRY AVENUE. A MOTION IXY MR. HILL, SECONDED BY <br />MR. COLEMAN, THAT THIS MATTER BE REFERRED TO THE STREET COMMITTEE TO DETERMINE WHAT <br />WIDTH STREET COULD BE CONSTRUCTED ANO THE APPROXIMATE COST OF SAME, WAS UNANIMOUSLY <br />ADOPTED. <br />MATTER RE: GROWTH BRUSH MR. H. J. MORRIS ADDRESSED THE COUNCIL AND STATED THAT A DANGEROUS SITUATION <br />KING & SPRING STS. <br />EXISTED AT KING ANO SPRING STREETS OUE TO THE GROWTH OF BRUSH ANO HONEYSUCKLE. ON <br />MOTION THIS MATTER WAS REFERRED TO THE STREET COMMITTEE FOR DISPOSITION. <br />THE COMMISSIONER OF REVENUE PRESENTED A LETTER FROM THE AMERICAN RED CROSS <br />REQUEST TO EXEMPT REQUESTING THAT THE REAL ANO PERSONAL PROPERTY TAXES FOR THE 1956 CALENDER YEAR BE <br />REAL Sc PERSONAL PROPERTY <br />TAXES - AMERICAN RED CROSS EXEMPTED. ON MOTION BY MR. HILL, SECONDED BY MR. COLEMAN, THIS MATTER WAS REFERRED <br />TO THE CITY ATTORNEY FOR STUDY ANO REPORT.
