<br /> 54 <br /> Responding to a question from Mr. Caravati, Mr. Brown said renewal will be by <br />mutual agreement. <br /> <br /> Ms. Hamilton asked how we assess whether the required work is properly done, <br />and Mr. Mike Svetz, Director of Parks and Recreation, said there Albemarle County is <br />the primary maintainer of the Park and they have staff in the Park who oversee the work. <br /> <br /> Responding to a question from Mr. Lynch, Mr. Svetz said that the residence is <br />isolated and rural property usually assesses for less. <br /> <br /> Responding to question from Mr. Schilling, Mr. Brown said that the fair market <br />rent is decided by Albemarle County and the house is 1590 square feet. <br /> <br /> Mr. Caravati asked how many softball games are held at the Park each year, <br />noting that this affects quiet enjoyment of the house. <br /> <br /> Mr. Svetz said that there are between 2,000 and 3,000 games played a year at <br />Towe Park. <br /> <br /> The public hearing was opened, but as there were no speakers, the public hearing <br />was closed. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Caravati, seconded by Ms. Hamilton, the Resolution <br />Authorizing the Lease for the Towe Park Tenant House was approved by the following <br />vote. Ayes: Dr. Brown, Mr. Caravati, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Lynch, Mr. Schilling. Noes: <br />None. <br /> <br /> BE <br /> IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, after a <br />public hearing held in accordance with Virginia Code §15.2-1800(B), that the City <br />Manager is hereby authorized to execute on behalf of the City the following document, in <br />form approved by the City Attorney: <br /> <br /> Lease between Dawn and Tully Wright (Tenant) and the City of <br /> Charlottesville and County of Albemarle (Lessor) for the lease <br />of property known as the Towe Park tenant house. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING/RESOLUTION <br />: AUTHORIZING SHORT-TERM LEASE OF <br />1545 AVON STREET TO UNIVERSAL PICTURES <br /> <br /> Mr. Chris Engel, Economic Development, explained that Universal Pictures is <br />preparing to shoot a major motion picture in the Charlottesville area. He said the Office <br />of Economic Development has assisted with finding office space, a casting location and <br />warehouse space. He said this lease will generate a small amount of revenue for the City <br />and will help Universal Pictures. The lease is proposed to be for four months, with an <br />option for one additional month. He said no activity is expected on the building until <br />after the lease has ended. <br /> <br /> Mr. Andy Edmunds, Virginia Film Office, said that this will bring money into the <br />area. He said this is a very competitive business and many states offer incentives. He <br />said is a common practice to provide space for free. He said this will affect all parts of <br />the economy, and he thanked the City for its help. <br /> <br /> The public hearing was opened. <br /> <br /> Ms. Colette Hall, 101 Robertson Lane, asked where the building is located and if <br />it will affect City residents. <br /> <br /> Dr. Brown noted that the property is in the County. <br /> <br /> As there were no further speakers, the public hearing was closed. <br /> <br /> <br />
