6 <br /> Mr. Norris said he would be confident providing the funding for the sewers if <br />staff think it will help, but said he brought up the reduction in Strategic Investment funds <br />thinking about reducing the tax rate. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lynch said he would like to reduce the tax rate further. <br /> <br /> Mr. Norris said he would favor increasing the tax grant program. <br /> <br /> Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Taliaferro and Dr. Brown said they agree with a 2 cent tax rate <br />reduction as proposed. <br /> <br /> Ms. Beauregard said that the current year’s Council reserve of $21,884 can <br />carryover to next year. <br /> <br /> Mr. O’Connell said that $100,000 in transit funding will be needed if the County <br />provides additional funding in their budget. <br /> <br /> Dr. Brown said that $100,000 in the EMS proposal could be taken out as a <br />contingency for the transit funding. <br /> <br /> Mr. O’Connell said that staff will identify the reserve based on expenditures or <br />revenues by Friday for the transit contingency. <br /> <br /> Mr. Norris agreed with the City Manager identifying this information, and other <br />Councilors expressed agreement. <br /> <br /> Council agreed to increase the Planning Commission stipend. <br /> <br /> It was agreed that an increase in Council salaries for July 2008 will be done in <br />June of 2007. <br /> <br /> Ms. Hamilton suggested that the concept of the neighborhood ombudsman or <br />community relations specialist that the County has be explored. <br /> <br /> Mr. Norris suggested that Council have a work session dedicated to the future of <br />the pools. <br /> <br /> Dr. Brown said he would like to see this be a community discussion. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lynch said he thinks City Yard would be a great location for a central <br />facility. <br /> <br /> Mr. O’Connell said that staff will provide a community meeting and public <br />process. <br /> <br /> The meeting was adjourned. <br /> <br />_____________________________ ______________________________ <br />President Clerk <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
