KING, TRAINMASTER FOR THE SOUTHERN RAILWAY ADDRESSED THE <br />COUNCIL WITH REFERENCE TO THE TROUBLE CAUSED BY THE TRAINS ®LOCKING THE <br />GRADE CROSSING AT SHAMROCK ROAD. THERE WAS A LENGTHY DISCUSSION DURING <br />~"~ATTER RE: TRAINS BLOCKING <br />GRADE CROSSING AT SHAMROCK RD. WHICH THE QUESTION OF BUILDING A BRIDGE AT THIS CROSSING WAS DISCUSSED. <br />ON MOTION BY MR. MICHIE, SECONDED BY MR. DAVIS, THIS WAS REFERRED TO THE <br />STREET COMMITTEE FOR STUDY AND REPORT, AND THE CITY MANAGER WAS INSTRUCTED <br />TO REOPEN NEGOTIATIONS WITH THE RAILWAY COMPANY RELATIVE TO THE CONSTRUCTION <br />OF A BRIDGE. <br />A REPORT WA5 PRESENTED FROM THE PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDING THAT <br />LEWIS STREET NOT BE CLOSED SINCE THE CITY MIGHT WISH TO ACCEPT IT AT SOME <br />~"1ATTER RE: CLOSING OF <br />LEWIS STREET FUTURE DATE. SEVERAL PROPERTY OWNERS ADJACENT TO LEWIS STREET ADDRESSED THE <br />COUNCIL AND REQUESTED THAT IT BE CLOSED DUE 70 THE INCONVENIENCE CAUSED THEM. <br />AFTER SOME DISCUSSION, THIS MATTER WAS REFERRED TO THE CITY ATTORNEY TO <br />DETERMINE IF THE CITY COULD CLOSE THE STREET AND RETAIN THE RIGHT TO ACQUIRE <br />IT IF NEEDED IN THE FUTURE. <br />A COMMUNICATION WAS PRESENTED FROM THE C & A BU5 COMPANY WITH REFERENCE <br />MATTER RE' SCHOOL BUSES TO THE DANGEROUS PRACTICE OF CARS PASSING SCHOOL BUSES WHILE CHILDREN ARE <br />C 6 A Bus•Co.
