<br />THE COUNCIL MET IN REGULAR SESSION ON THIS DATE WITH THE FOLLOWING MEMBERS
<br />PRESENT: MR. COLEMAN, MR. Davis, MR. MICHIE, MR. SCRIBNER AND MR. WEINBERG,
<br />ABSENT: NONE.
<br />THE MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF DECEMBER 2, 1957 WERE READ AND APPROVED.
<br />A COMMUNICATION WAS PRESENTED REQUESTING THAT THE CITY CONSIDER SELLING 70
<br />MRS. J. W. EARHART A PART OF THE OLD MEADOWCREEK DISPOSAL PLANT PROPERTY. ON
<br />MOTION BY MR. SCRIBNER, SECONDED BY MR. WEINBERG, THIS MATTER WAS REFERRED TO A
<br />COMMITTEE COMPOSED OF MR, SCRIBNER, MR. COLEMAN AND MR, BOWEN FOR STUDY AND
<br />RECOMMENDATION.
<br />A COMMUNICATION WAS PRESENTED FROM THE SCHOOL BOARD REQUESTING THAT THE
<br />CITY ADVANCE FUNDS FOR THE PAYMENT OF THE ARCHITECTURAL FEES FOR PRELIM{NARY PLANS
<br />FOR THE ADDITIONS TO BURNLEY-MORAN, CLARK AND JOHNSON SCHOOLS. ON MOTION BY
<br />MR. MICHIE, SECONDED BY MR. WEINBERG, THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION WAS OFFERED AND
<br />CARRIED OVER TO THE NEXT MEETING FOR CONSIDERATION:
<br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE
<br />THAT $5,793.43 BE ANO THE SAME IS HEREBY APPROPRIATED IN ACCORDANCE
<br />WITH THE FOREGOING REQUEST.
<br />AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF
<br />CHARLOTTESVILLE BE.iNG CHAPTER 33 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE
<br />ADOPTED AND APPROVED MAY 2, 1949, AND AS SUBSEQUENTLY AMENDED; ENTITLED AN
<br />ORDINANCE DIVIDING THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE INTO DISTRICTS TO REGULATE AND
<br />RESTR{CT THE LOCATION, ERECTION, CONSTRUCTION, RE-CONSTRUCTION, REPAIR OR USE
<br />OF BUILDINGS AND OTHER STRUCTURES, THEIR HEIGHT, AREA AND BULK, AND THE PER-
<br />CENTAGE OF LOT TO BE OCCUPIED BY BUILDINGS OR OTHER STRUCTURES, THE SfZE OF
<br />YARDS, COURTS AND OTHER OPEN SPACES, THE USE OF BUILDINGS OR PREMISES FOR TRADE,
<br />INDUSTRY, RESIDENCE OR OTHER SPECIFIC USES; AND TO ESTABLISH SET BACK BUILDING
<br />LINES; TO PROVIDE FOR A METHOD OF AMENDMENT, SUPPLEMENT, CHANGE AND REPEAL OF
<br />REGULATIONS, RESTRICTIONS AND BOUNDARIES; TO PROVIDE A METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION;
<br />TO PROVIDE FOR A BOARD OF APPEALS AND PRESCRIBE ITS POWERS AND DUTIES; TO PROVIDE
<br />FOR THE ENFORCEMENT OF THE PROVISIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE AND TO PRESCRIBE PENALTIES
<br />FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF" WAS OFFERED BY MR. SCRIBNER, SECONDED BY MR. COLEMAN,
<br />AND CARRIED OVER TO A SPECIAL MEETING ON JANUARY 9, 1958.
<br />ON MOTION 8Y MR, WEINBERG, SECONDED BY MR. COLEMAN, A PUBLIC HEARING WAS
<br />ORDERED HELD ON JANUARY 9, 1958 AT 7:30 P. M. AT THE ALBEMARLE COUNTY COURT HOUSE
<br />ON THE PROPOSED ORDINANCE, AND A REVISED ZON-NG MAP WAS ORDERED PUBLISHED FIFTEEN
<br />(15) DAYS PRIOR TO THAT DATE.
<br />COMMUNICATIONS WERE PRESENTED FROM THE STATE COMPENSATION BOARD FIXING THE
<br />SALARIES AND EXPENSES OF THE CITY-STATE OFFICERS AS FOLLOWS:
<br />COMMONWEALTH ATTORNEY $5,600.00
<br />COMMISSIONER OF REVENUE 24,122.29
<br />CITY TREASURER 24,740.00
<br />CITY SERGEANT 21,025.OO
<br />A MOTION BY MR, COLEMAN, SECONDED BY MR. SCRIBNER THAT THE SALARIES AND
<br />EXPENSES BE APPROVED, AS FIXED BY THE COMPENSATION BOARD, WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED.
<br />THE C17Y MANAGER STATED THAT IN THE PAST THE CITY OFFICES HAD BEEN CLOSED AN
<br />EXTRA OAY DURING CHRISTMAS AND RECOMMENDED THAT THE OFFICES BE CLOSED ON
<br />DECEMBER 26TH THIS YEAR. ON MOTION BY MR. WEINBERG, SECONDED BY MR.COLEMAN, THE
<br />FOREGOING RECOMMENDATION WAS UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED.
